So what is going on with the scaffolding? Are they preparing for vertical construction to resume?

Yes. It's a required part in order to resume.

And for how long can we expect to wait until vertical construction resumes?

The waiting is getting tiresome.

And to think 3-4 years ago these buildings were going to be the tallest in the city.

Quite a shame, imo.

That's the thing. The new WTC was designed over a decade ago. Now, 1,170' spire / 1,080' roof is pretty average compared to recent New York projects. At least the design is not outdated and still pretty good imo.

Looks like they are doing some cutting or grinding around some of the core rebar. In the cam one of the platforms is just covered in cement dust. wtc3

Not directly related to 3WTC but more reassurance to the investors that 3WTC is worth backing. 4WTC just signed it's first private tenant. http://nypost.com/2014/07/21/silvers...-to-mediamath/
The site is coming alive again and people see it.

Good news. Scaffolding means that restart is iminent. Also great to see private tenants here. That is what this site is lacking till now.

A lot of workers up there right now.

Edit: They are gone now, but had about a dozen workers working on rebar.

Great news, Otie! Hopefully this is a sign of a new trend and more tenants will appear and 2WTC will finally start rising!

I'm trying to deny that this is starting because we've all heard that before. But I believe this will be built, and I think I'm crazy for thinking that. I hope that once 3 WTC starts rising, 2WTC will begin construction soon and not in 2019, like people think.

Wonderful to hear.

Guess they do need another crane installed within the core, like they had before.

Where did you get that pic? Earthcam.com doesn't offer that, does it?
