id say the same thing that removed the previous ones. a large hydraulic with a luffing jib. after they get the first crane up, it might possibly help set up the other cranes, but i doubt it.

my theory is that they need to get the core going the old fashioned way, by hand, and get beyond the finished floor by 1-2 levels. after that, the climbing forms will be installed and the concrete tower crane will be installed inside the core with an internal climbing system. after 10 floors of core is up, we will see the steel cranes installed. three machines. One at the west podium (where the old west crane was and there is temporary decking) that will stay until the podium is done, then one at the northeast and one at the southwest. both internal climbing.

Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) is slated for 6/17, so it should be topped out before then. Public opening is 2018.

Things are never on schedule... so I would give a more realistic year of sometime in 2020 or later.

Lol it's not going to take them 6 or more years to finish this. 2020 is probably when we will see 2WTC finished or near there anyway. The most complicated part of the tower is mostly done, it will definitely be opening on or around schedule.

Unless they get into another round of financial issues somehow...

From today. The crane didn't look like it had the power to lift a boom, like Jacko said. But time will tell.

As it was mentioned before, it was projected that it would take about 3 months ( or something to that degree, go back few dozen pages)) to fully restart construction. I think tower cranes are still a little bit of waiting away. This is why they brought crawler, to bring supplies to the "roof" for now.

This is taking a long time (for me, at least) to resume construction.

I'm just happy this is getting back on track. This will be my 2nd favorite tower in the complex after 2 WTC.

New steel for 3 World Trade Center?

I took some photos yesterday (8/27/14) of the Manitowoc crane lifting a steel beam to the roof of 3 World Trade Center. What is it for?

Those beams go in the core. I drew arrows to show where some are already placed, 2 on the current level and one visible lower down.
