Both WTC2 and WTC3 will indeed rise above grade but unless there is some serious leasing activity and financing, they will both be built as 'stumps' rising about 5 levels above grade and primarily leased out to retailers until full tower development can resume. Silverstein is pushing hard to get all the towers built "in his lifetime" so who knows? A little cash flow, a little bond issuance, and...

What about specification of new istalled tower crane at WTC3 from Link-Belt? Is it TG-1500?

This does not sound good at all. This means the buildings will remain unfinished for X number of years until investors will pour in their money.

But don't forget. It'll be about a year and a half or so before 2 and 3 reach the point where they're considered 5-story stumps. By then, maybe the economy will have picked up more and the demand for office space will be increased. I can't see 2 and 3 being stumps for longer then a few months, a year at most

Are those floors parking lots, because it is descending? Maybe not the most intellectuel question but I wonder, it can also be meant for commercial use.

It was already like that at the start, but it will give Silverstein plenty of time to get tenants for the offices.

I was under the impression that there will be no parking lots under or around the new WTC complex because of the attack in 1993. So my guess is that the floors are for maintenance.

No parking for private cars, but there will be parking for tour buses. There will also be loading docks for truck deliveries under each building. The above will occupy the 2 lowest basement levels. The upper 2 will be mostly retail and transportation concourse.

I've been talking to one of the guys who made the old renderings of the towers, and new renderings are coming this year, in video form, I think. It might take as long as 6 months before they are released, but they are coming and they will show much more details of the towers... also the people who made these renderings are confident that all the towers are going to go up as fast as possible.

A quote from Silverstein's president of WTC rebuilding, "...Lieber said that by May 2012, a decision will be made about whether or not to order steel to continue building Tower 3’s full superstructure."

I was also into question that how will people going to park their cars after 1993 bombing the old car park was still open and during that day whoever heard this or if you have anyone who is working in the basement, William Rodriquez says there is an explosion (presumably the elevators and not bomb as everyone stated) in the basement. Now how are they going to park their cars? Subway?

At the deepest levels of the WTC site, 2 and 3 WTC steel recently began to rise from the tower footings, approximately 80 feet below street level. Lieber said that by May 2012, a decision will be made about whether or not to order steel to continue building Tower 3’s full superstructure. Until then, both Tower 2 and 3 crews will continue extensive below-grade construction.

Based on this news, they are still deliberating whether to proceed with the 2WTC and 3WTC superstructures. If this news is accurate, it sounds like they have enough funds to complete the construction with or without tenants/investors.

If they had enough, why not decide now rather than next year?
