In those photos above, the crane parts looks quite short... perhaps they're part of the cranes jumping mechanism section?

Also on some projects, they start off with some cranes, then change or move them around... perhaps this crane is to finish off the first set back at the front? As it won't need to go overly high

Didn't you say that they would be using a Potain for the core? Because those mast section looks like Potain to me.

These mast pieces are indeed for the core. I forgot that out of the three cranes that will be on this, the one in the core will be the smallest as it will do fairly light jobs.

Mast installation well underway at this time. Indeed this new mast is much lighter weight than the one already there.

How exciting, a tower crane back on site (excluding the one that's been sitting there) can't believe its finally rising...

How will this rise when it finally gets going?

Will it be core all the way to the top, or will they start adding floors? How soon will they add floors, because the amount of shit they've got piled on that pedestal seems like they're planning a long stay.

i believe the core will rise another five floors as otie said and then steel will rise to the top like the other wtc towers did and 2 wtc will eventually.

Yes the crane that was previously before is now banned in NYC because of bad history. That why they took that away

Indeed steel construction generally has the core rise quite a bit ahead of the steel. Just as an example below is the cam for a building going up in Chicago at the moment. WTC3 will rise in a similar fashion.

a bit of a misunderstanding. people often confuse age with reliability, but maintenance is more often the issue.

the TG cranes have a very good history and are still the best steel erection cranes...

fast, fast, fast.

Thats why they pay to have them shipped all over the country. For example, the three TGs at Wilshire Grand are from a contractor in NJ.
