I'd like 5 not to be commercial but have a hotel/residential retail mix. Some love the idea, others hate it but it gives a 24/7 component to the area. The Performing Arts building would like Tower Dude said would be nice but not essential, as 5. I absolutely do hope that WTC2 is next and will come into reality as the buildup of WTC3 winds down....hopefully we have good news by 2017 or 2018 that it will be finally realized. It's by the design the actual heart of the whole complex and will do a lot to help bring context in the skyline to all the others.

1&4 WTC nearly completed: looks good, improves the skyline a lot.
1&4 WTC completed + HUB / VSC nearly done: very good, business is back at the WTC. People everywhere ...
1&4 WTC completed + HUB / VSC completed + 3WTC completed: holy sh*t! What a tower! Closes the gap in the skyline nicely. *Awesome*
1&4 WTC completed + HUB / VSC completed + 2&3WTC completed: *Faints* ...

I think the PAC is very essential. Having it would complete having all 7 buildings back (including 5), and would fill up the empty space that will be there once they open the oculus and demolish the current PATH station. Memorial Plaza/ Liberty Park is enough open space, PAC (6WTC) needs to go up eventually. Also, I think what they have planned would be a nice addition to the trade center.

Looks like they are uncovering the decking for the western crane tower.

It's really exciting seeing that tower crane up, even if it is a weeny one.

At a closer look, it's still hard to tell imo, but the footprint seams about right for a crane:

Also is this the exterior lift shaft? There's a large strip of cladding missing from the bottom to the top and fits in line perfectly with this structure:

yes it is. They installed supports/backup structure for the crane on the floor below when they initially installed the steel a couple years ago. They are uncovering the access opening in the floor.

yes it is a construction elevator.

Great. Things will speed up quite a bit with an extra crane.

DOB filings. Same with 10 HY: filings show 905' instead of 895'.

Probably this has already been answered but what's that other tower sheathed in orange rising now close by?

That black building behind 3 WTC in the image above is the Millennium Hotel on Church St. It's 588 feet tall, but a few years from now, there will be more than 125 buildings taller than it in Manhattan.
