Haha, thanks for this comment, because I have thought about this so much..(There has to be an easier way than stairs!)

Unfortunately, it would cause more harm than good. First of all, how would you stop/slow down to accomodate other people "getting on" the slide? Do you realize how much speed you would pick up when going down? Not to mention how nautious the "sliders" would become.

STR, can you elaborate on what you mean here? I don't get what you mean by a spiral, even with your pencil drawings in there.
Thanks!

Has the URL for the RGZ cam changed? When I view this link, I see an image from October 20, 2010 (2:04pm). It's been eons since I've seen a current image.

Edit: I went to their website and see that it has indeed changed to this.

Thanks!
All of the setbacks and roofs on the two buildings are related to each other. They follow an arc, which is what the half-assed line is meant to show.

Well a good defense might be it is better to be nauseous than dead. But I get your point. But there has to be a safe way to make some sort of slide that nobody has thought of or risked mentioning out of fear of being laughed at.

Columbia company to help rebuild World Trade Center

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - New York's Ground Zero has been the site of much celebration and reflection the past couple of days. A new tower will be erected there a year from now, and a Columbia company has the contract to do the work.

"I think everybody in the Columbia Community should be proud and honored that right here in Columbia, we're making a difference," said Owen Steel Vice President Mike Cooke.

The attacks the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 changed the life of every American. Columbia's Owen Steel Company will have its part in changing the face of New York City.

"We're going to be furnishing and installing the structural steel on World Trade Center Number 3," said Cooke. "Just to know what happened at Ground Zero and to be part of rebuilding it is just something special."

The massive contract was awarded on Valentine's Day. The full project will take two and a half years to complete.

"There'll be 27,000 tons of structural steel," said Cooke. "We'll buy the raw material, we'll detail it, we'll engineer it, we'll fabricate it, manufacture it right here at our facility in Columbia and then we'll ship it to Manhattan."

Cooke says business has been tough since 2008, but the contract will help all 250 employees keep their jobs. "That's another reason this job is so important to us," said Cooke. "It's going to keep us busy and hopefully get us through this downturn."

Owen Steel created the framework for the Ground Zero Memorial Museum two years ago. One of the beams traveled the country, stopping in Columbia. Now with another opportunity to leave their mark, Owen Steel employees work on the biggest project they've ever had.

"When we leave the job, site, there will be a building," said Cooke. A building everyone can be proud of.

After September 11, there were questions about the structural integrity of the building. The buildings being erected now are designed for a progressive collapse, so portions of the building can be damaged without affecting other parts.
