We NEED 2TWC to plug that gap and make the World Trade Center complex whole!

2 WTC won't do much for that particular gap. It will help when looking from the SW corner of the site, however.

It will still probably do more that you would think at first. Greenwich is slightly angled to start with, and 3's tower portion is actually recessed from Greenwich due to the podium, whereas 2 will be right up against Greenwich all the way to the top. There will still be a hole where the temp PATH station/performing arts center will be, but it won't be as gaping as it is now. I'd estimate 2 would fill about a third of the gap, perhaps more.

Don't get me wrong, it will help still, it just won't do that much.

The sunglare off 1WTC is making it look thinner than it is.

It has more weight, and counterbalances 3 and 4WTC on the other side.

Makes me wish they built something where the PAC will be instead. As filled as the complex will look from the diagonals, the most common views we will see, by far, will be from Midtown and across the Hudson in New Jersey, and both views will have holes in the skyline. It will almost seem that 1 WTC is segregated from the rest of the buildings, which is kind of a problem if they wanted it to look like a united set of buildings, instead of 2, 3, and 4 being completely separate entities.

There is no reason why the performing arts center can't be the base of another tower (putting aside air rights, legal, financial, and ... everything else).

The performing arts center will likely be "right sized" for the reality of todays consumption of the arts, which is trending to a smaller scale and more participatory.

In fact, the real estate model has worked very well for the arts. Selling or renting extra space could help to fund the ongoing operations.

First time there's work since Tuesday and the cameras are down... go figure.

Cameras down again. EarthCam is conspiring against us to never give us a daytime webcam shot again.

The Memorial and 30 Park cams are updating, so perhaps the others are done? (I hope not)

In other news, all of worker platforms in core are installed and the climbing cage is going on the Potain.

The others are definitely updating at night, I can tell by the timestamp in the URL. If they were done wouldn't they stop updating altogether, the way the 4 WTC cam has?

Just did a quick run through, the only ones not updating are 1wtcbase, 3wtc, and 1wtctop. Which is a shame, because I started creating a sort of timelapse, using a picture from the webcam every couple days. I was going to use a screenshot from friday, but that day came and went, and it looks like today might suffer the same fate.

Maybe earthcam heard my pleas. Either way, the camera for 3WTC finally updated during daylight hours.

Just so I'm not going crazy, the first picture more accurately depicts 3WTC because of the height reduction right? So with all the towers it should look something like this (after a quick photoshop)? If so, it doesn't look like the "spiral" grand design for the complex was compromised too much; it may have actually improved it. This of course relies on 3WTC's spires being somewhat noticeable during the day and at night.

I reckon you're right about this. It does seem like a more natural progression up the spiral with the reduced-height tower 3. Well spotted.

When will this building start to actually rise? it seems like they've been working on the same floor for a month and a half now.
