When can we expect the final tower crane to be installed?

They are currently trying to decide which crane to use, so there is no definite time frame. They either want the Favco M760D or the Wolff 700B. The Favco would require a setup modification not yet approved in NYC.

This may be a dumb question but what was the point of building that little extended section of core just for the base?

I hope that's all it is....but the links right now default to a generic Earthcam page so it's an internet thing....not the cameras I think. BTW the Memorial one is STILL up so at least that's better than nothing :/

Those cameras always seem to be reliably unreliable.

This time it seems exceptionally so. Normally it just shows an outdated picture, now it redirects to the earthcam website as if those cameras have been taken down permanently.

even if that were the case, I'd bet they would set up a new camera for 3 WTC due to the resumption of construction.

Indeed it is back. I sort of wished they placed an Earthcam on 1WTC now that it's complete. One perhaps looking down on the WTC site so we can watch 2 and 3 WTC grow from that perspective and maybe one looking towards midtown. Now that would be neat.

Another good location would be WFC but I suppose they wouldn't want to replicate the shot from the the camera that is across the Hudson looking east onto the WTC site.
