There is some video footage I took over the weekend that has all the WTC buildings in it. I hope to take some more photos/video from the observation deck next month.
Great footage, thank you for this

No problem. I'm going to go out and take some more photos/videos the weekend after next. If anyone has any recommendations they should let me know.

I'm going to try and get in the observation deck if I can.

Glad to see 3WTC finally taking shape it will compliment 1WTC nicely when finished. The one I'm eagerly watching is 2WTC however, to see what happens with it & hopefully it will start back up again soon. I'm hoping they use the opportunity with 2WTC to make a really unique iconic building, to compliment 3wtc & 1wtc but maybe rivaling or even surpassing 1wtc's roof height (if not it's antenna height). Just the completion of 3wtc for the time being will nicely compliment the site even more!

The core is so fat. How is there even any floor space on the Church St. side of the building??

It's there. The scale can look deceiving.

It is great to see progress on this tower after the long wait..

Does any one know if cladding of the podium section will start up again after the floors are finished, or will it only start up again when the whole tower is topped out?

more steel has been added to the section on the west side of the core + the white crane continues to climb upwards.
from earthcam (facing the hudson - note the reflection off the facade of 4 WTC)

I love how we're using a reflection in another building to measure progress

I'm sure they won't wait until the tower is topped out before resuming cladding. Having said that, I would imagine steel erection will need to be quite a bit farther along - and on all four sides of the building...before they think about adding more cladding. As a frame of reference (no pun intended), as I recall, One World Trade was up to around the 40th floor before they began cladding installation.

I have a question that might sound silly, but I am not an expert on highrise construction so be patient please...

I would like to know something about the red Potain crane. Everytime the crane "jumps", its "stem" inside the core grows longer along with the core.

Once 3WTC reaches its maximum height, I imagine the "stem" of the crane will have to be dismantled. How will they do that? Will they pull out every section, one by one? So there are some 400 meters of crane to be pulled out? How will they do that? With another crane?

I would have liked to see the process while it was going on with 4WTC, but if you remember, the cameras were out during the process.

Thanks...

Hello. The Potain crane does what's called jumping. Basically there are hydraulic pumps that allow the crane to move up 2 floors per jump without actually adding any mast sections. Once it is no longer needed, either a Derrick will be setup or one of the other cranes will take it down.

Really nice vision

However "4 diamonds"-tower in the middle seems most spectacular in my opinion

I can't wait completing all the towers !

WTC2 is definitely the star of this entire group of buildings! Assuming it is finished looking like the renderings we now have it will surpass the beauty of any of the other buildings by a large margin!

Agreed. I can't stomach a change to it for one tenant that will probably move out of it in 20 years while it stands for another 100 years further. What a waste.

I understand the desire to get the site finished. But I want as much of the original concept built as possible. We've already seen many small value-engineered changes to parts of the WTC. I'd hate to see a drastic one now so close to the end.

No doubt WTC2 is the best of the group. It's a shame that it's on hold...
