it looks ridiculous without the spires. They seemed to have extended the parapet instead - but it just looks half assed that way. My excitement has been trampled on

I still can't bring myself to finish my thoughts on the new 2WTC in the other thread without rage-quitting and having to start over. But as for the accidental reveal that 3WTC may have lost its spires, I'll be totally honest, I don't think it's a huge tragedy. They were my least favorite part of this design, and when they were viewed next to the Foster 2WTC, actually made things a little visually muddy.

Next to the BIG design, the spires might have been a welcome distraction... but as far as this building on its own is concerned, I think it looks as good, if not better, without them.

What the hell have they done????? How could they mutilate this beautiful building by taking away its spires?? It's like cutting the tail off of a dog! It's both gross and inhumane! This is an absolute crime! And what happened to 2WTC??? Have I awoken to a nightmare??

Yet another disastrous change which only makes 3wtc look like some awful glass generic office tower belonging in some random Midwestern town, not NY. It looks way too generic. 1wtc looks nice. I've grown to like it. But the new 2wtc design is hideous. It should be a twin of 1wtc. And they should have kept the spires for 3wtc.

About 3wtc..I wonder if the Marriott Hotel will reclaim it eventually. The Vista/Marriott was in the old 3wtc.

Oh shut up, you just said you've grown to like one wtc so what makes you think you wont grow to like the other towers? I think people need to grow the hell up.

Again, we don't know for sure if they have removed the spires yet. Same goes for the extended parapet everyone keeps talking about.

Where will they install the NE crane if they are filling the place with steel?

2WTC looks like a pile of boxes stack on oneanother. The diamonds were much better looking.

But I guess that the whole complex will become a REAL tribute to what America REALLY is: a place where money matters more than the memory of thousands of people who lost their lives. Way to go Rupert Murdoch !

Don't you tell me to shut up, how dare you. Who do you think you are? I was expressing my opinion I did not attack anyone on here personally.

Absolutely disgusted by this site!

You would have expected great architecture for such an important site. Only adds salt into the wound of 9/11.

It's like shoving a knife into old scars.

Sorry! But I had to get that off my chest.

Does anyone know why the spires are still shown in the promo video for the 2 WTC redesign but not the photos? Seems odd.

Everyone has a right to have their own opinion. You're just making things worse by telling people to shut up when exercising that right. It's obvious you have some growing up to do yourself since you like to tell people on a skyscraper forum to shut up. Real mature. Now back to this Tower. The only thing I like about it is the height. Other than that it just doesn't fit at the WTC. From the West Side it looks ok but the other 3 sides it looks awful. I would have been happier with a box honestly. I don't understand why people would think this building looks nice but hey that's their opinion. I know we have no control over the matter but yeah if this is what is going to be then we have no choice but to adjust. It is a unique design and perhaps I would like it more if it wasn't at the World Trade Center...
