We're still waiting on the crane, which should be coming this week.

They are still repainting One Liberty? I figured they would have been finished by now

does anyone now why there are three double height floors around the building in the area that is now being framed. Is it perhaps for warehouse space where there will be tall shelving for stacking pallets of goods. I don't see that it would be office space with such high ceilings, not mechanical equp. as that would be in the podium, and not that much height for restraunts, etc.

Seems the core is as much square footage as the office space on each floor. Any details?

Those three double height floors are MEP spaces (mechanical).

That is an optical illusion that happens when you put a square inside another. Because of the lenght, it may seem so, but it isn't. Remember that for a square, the area is, precisely, a square function.

I give you this example, suppose in this diagram the outer square is a building, with the inner square being its core. You may think that the core is way bigger than the usable space, but actually it is not. The outer square lenght is a unit (1), and the inner square is two thirds of that unit (0,66666) but since the area is a square function, the outer square area is 1 (1x1), and the inner square area is 0,444 (0,66666 x 0,66666) meaning that the remaing area, the usable floor space, is 0,555, so more than the core area.

If the inner square (the core of the building) were half the lenght of the outer one (the building) then the area of the core were just a fourth of that of the building, meaning the core is a quarter of the total area of the building, with the usable space being three quarters.

I don't know the exact measurements of this building, but the lenght of one side of the core seems to be a bit more of the lenght of half the building, but less than two thirds of it, so, the usable space must be, at least, twice the area of the core. (you can acomplish that with a core with the lenght of its side being six tenths of the lenght of the building)

For the type of building, this is a very common amount of available space to have.

For comparison, the Twins only had 35 feet of space from the short side of the core to the perimeter.

Look like the core its just a little tiny bit more than a third of the total floor plan, according to the scale the core seems to be 14,300 sqf

from earthcam, the crossbracing framing continues. Hopefully someone will be able to get a front-on view of it from the memorial.

Regarding the size of the core. Now that I see the floor plan, it is clear that a large core is also needed to accommodate the large number of elevators necessary to reduce wait time for an elevator car to arrive.
