I have to agree. This new crane looks....puny. I hope looks are deceiving.

*EDIT* is this thing of a modified "hammerhead" design?

No. It's a luffing jib.

They aren't done assembling the jib. There's more pieces on deck as of right now.

based on the fact that this crane is owned by federated, that would make sense. they own a few TG1900s
The TG's have the same bracing pattern in all 4 faces, these don't.

well now it's fully assembled. Let the east side steel begin.

PS....pardon my ignorance but what is a "luffing jib"?

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum, used to be on Skyscraperpage but there seems to be more activity. Excited to see this one start rising now that we've got three cranes. Hopefully at 500' by January? By the way the new crane looks ridiculously long for a thin crane.

Will the upper part of the mast of the 3rd crane be somehow attached to the structure?

I have a hard time believing that it can lift heavy weights only by standing on its socle.

Just a fail-safe while they are installing the pulleys/lines.

Not the luffing pulley, I'm talking about the hook block.

Now it's on there...

Only a 1-fall though.

EDIT: They changed to a 2-fall. This can now handle about the same as the Favco at min radius (~32 tons)

Any tower crane has the abilty of standing just on its base, up to a certain height that is, usually about 40-50 meters.

In this case, it should stand just as it is until they build some floors. Then they will indeed fix it to the recently constructed floors. That operation will be repeated regularly every few floors.

To add on to that, it will be an internal climber also. They will attach one more climbing basket once 2 more floors are constructed, then attach the climber mast/tower between the two baskets.
