Blue pieces are for the cocoon netting. They have begun installing it around the steel.

I think they are running through inspections for the upper basket. They have been hanging a large load at a number of points today to check. I assume the city/path inspectors have to approve before they are allowed to jump the crane.

Sorry guys, I know this is off topic - but are there any cameras mounted on top of WTC 1? If so - can you post a link to them. Thanks.

Indeed, the jump has commenced.

UPDATE: Well it's definitely emerged from it's "cage of steel" but it's still not all that high. Both mounting apparrati are directly beneath one another now by a single floor, so as it stands at the moment they can't go any higher. BUT..I'm wondering if this will be a two-step process - where they lift now the new (upper platform) and then again raise the whole thing. Seems to me in hindsight, they should have just made the initial mast a lot taller; then again I'm no expert.

They cannot go higher until the columns are welded. There is a weld point right above the upper basket that needs completed before they can jump again. They have plenty of work to do until the columns are welded. For this same system on 1 WTC the mast was about the same height.

Is there a reason why the steel on the west side is taking forever? I feel like they've been on this floor for a while now.

Yeah I'm sure the Wolff crane will get to work soon. It was the one on the west side that I was wondering about.
