That's been the final design for quite a while.

They are taking down the yellow Tech crane as the request of NYC Cranes & Derricks... The bureaucrats must have decided that the project was progressing too quickly and that it was time to complicate things...

The plaza isn't big enough?

Without Fox on the board, the door remains open for Fosters' 2WTC, and now on topic, that could mean 3WTC to have its spires back! Yea I konw I'm being too optimistic and speculative but I can't help it. Could be the best news in a while for the whole development

I hope so. The sole reason Rogers removed the spires was to give the campus more coherence. Without 2 WTC's flat parapet... 3 WTC has no reason to have the same.

The spires have to return now. They just have to. There is no reason why they should not. Now that Fox is out of the picture, there is no need for BIG's monstrosity, which no one liked in the first place. The spires need to return.

Probably a dumb question, but it's not too late for the spires to return structurally right? I don't want to get my hopes up ha.

It's a great tower
Does anybody know why the core is built so much ahead of the floor plates? It looks pretty weird

Well, this is huge: News Corp and 21st Century Fox have officially pulled out of their deal to move to 2 World Trade Center. According to a report in the New York Post, the Rupert Murdoch-owned companies have decided to retain their office space in Midtown, with a lease that currently runs through 2020, but could extend through 2025.
