In no means trying to be spam, but I do want to share something from Change.org which is a petition on building a twin for One World Trade Center as Tower 2. This petition has recently been posted, so not a lot of people have signed it. The link is below. This is just an idea, a possibility: change.org/p/larry-silverstein-build-twin-one-world-trade-center-freedom-towers

I like your enthusiasm but petitions won't get you anywhere. Unfortunately the NY market is driven by economics and creating a twin is economically impossible for numerous reasons. (I also would rather see Foster's tower)

One WTC is my favorite out of the new towers, but I don't think it would look right with a twin because of the tapering and were the 2WTC site is positioned. Foster's design fits much better for the 2WTC site.

Then why not modify the ground site, so it could fit. Costly, yes, but add a little more time to make it work. After all, 2 WTC hasn't found anyone to anchor the building.

This question belongs on the 2WTC forum. However, I would like to say that it is financially more likely that the original Foster design will be revived exactly because the foundation work for Foster's tower has already been built. To modify that for BIG's design was going to be extremely costly and a logistical nightmare. Now with Fox out of the picture, and due to time and finances, it is economically logical that they stick with the original design. I would take a safe bet that they will ultimately stay with that original design because of that.

True. But then again, we won't have twins anymore. And the new buildings don't represent them the slightest (they don't even visually look similar without knowing what they are about.) If they did make twins, it would represent a remembrance and technically make the 9/11 memorials and museums stand out more than the idea of financial and stock exchange stuff (which is also very important, since it still has to be a World Trade Center.

On the subject of Tower Two, in a recent interview Larry Silverstein was fairly candid about the design for tower two now that fox has backed out

I'm sorry I know this has little to do with 3 WTC but I do want to point out that Larry is a business man and as such will market bigs design for other potential media companies. That said I still think in the end fosters tower will be revived.

At the end of the day, BIG's 2 WTC was designed for a specific media conglomerate that's not coming anymore. Is he marketing the building for another similarly-sized company? Well, CNN is going to Hudson Yards, NBC will probably be at 30 Rock forever and ABC is staying put in Times Square. It's safe to say, Silverstein won't be getting an anchor tenant of the same scale as News Corp/Fox if he wants to go down that route.

That being said, 3 WTC has a media company anchoring it but they never forced a redesign on Larry.

Silverstein didn't even like BIGs redesign to begin with. He is growing desperate now to find a tenant. He will not be able to find an anchor for BIGs tower. Considering the massive opposition to the design and the fact that it is made for a media tenant, it is a dead horse. You watch. He might want to market BIGs design for now but that's out of desperation since the real estate market is starting to slow.
