I'm pretty sure ice never forms because of the flowing water, but I could be wrong.

flowing water freezes. IIRC They used some kind of agent which was giving the nearby trees trouble in the past few winters.

It is chlorinated I believe. Which would be why trees in the immediate vicinity don't grow well because the wind sprays the chlorinated water on them.

I pass the place twice a day and never feel smell of chlorinated water.
But they can add several thousands pounds of alcohol to he water to achieve the same effect

How come you dont smell it? I mean it doesnt smell like pure chlorine, but come on, it smells like a swimming pool for sure.

Imagine the smell if they really did fill it with alcohol I guess you would get drunk by breathing it.

They defiantly are using some kind of anti-freeze chemicals.

Whatever they are using effects the trees on the northern side of the memorial, causing them to died. I think they've replaced the trees about twice now.

Not so good picture from this evening....

I've seen the Memorial Pools partially frozen. The lower half of the pools had frozen though the water was still moving from above.

That last picture.......

About the water.. thank you for clearing that up.
Why I haven't noticed the trees situation made me question my perceptive insight skills xD.. It's kinda crazy to think the amount of "inside" stories that happen and make all of this even more interesting.
And I guess it would cause some strain in the pipelines or another type of havoc.. but if that were to freeze.. it would create an awesome effect! xD

Well the glass looks adorable. Even if some of the building's most remarkable elements were removed it will still look very nice I guess. It looks like it will complement the simplistic 4WTC perfectly. I am not sure how BIG's 2WTC will fit with its surrounding, but oh wait I almost forgot it probably wasn't even meant to fit in, or to complement its surroundings.
