Frankly it looks a lot better from the ground than it does from above.

For those disappointed with the value engineering, I made a crude comparison image using every bit of evidence I could find. As you can see (as long as you're not a sucker for spires), not only is the height reduction minor, but only one actual office floor was lost in the redesign, and that office floor is of the smallest of the four types of floor plates. Don't get me wrong; I'd rather have that extra office floor (and more) than not, but I am kind of happy that they reduced the number of ugly mechanical floors atop the podium.

I thought the old version was too busy. Prefer the one we are getting. Never liked the 4 spires.

I think the cladding so far is very upscale and makes the tower look very sophisticated.

The original version was best. End of story.

I agree that the initial plan was much better, although the tower is still beautiful, the glass is very smooth.

According to you. But you'll find that for those of us who have been here greatly anticipating 3WTC for so many years, it has turned into another disappointing turn in events.

The original could have been a world class, easily recognizable, iconic tower. Now it's a box.

They're called design elements and they bring interest and recognition.

Been awhile since I've hopped in this thread and wow, it's shot up quite a lot since I was here. Shame about the bracing and other cut changes, though. It's still... kind of iconic? Just not quite to the original vision unfortunately.

The twin towers were boxes that had a much simple design than this tower but that never stopped them from being iconic. Having a simple design doesn't kill a building's recognition.

The twin towers were boxes... with height, that's what makes them iconic. Box without height are forgettable.

Ooh, are we finally gonna see some cladding on the west part of the tower (not including the podium) soon?
