If anything tops out, it would only be the core.

The official height being thrown around everywhere is 1,079ft. And that is what the core is topping out at. So what is the parapet's height going to be and why is that height not being considered the height of the building?

I know Weidncol is saying it will be 1,168ft, but I just find it odd that, in a day and age where bragging about your building's height is the cool thing to do, they decided to keep throwing around the core height as the building's height.

I'm very proud of the hundreds of workers that made 3 World Trade Center rise.

In 2006, the design for 3 World Trade Center was selected, designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour . In 2008, the foundation was made for the building to start and rise. Unfortunately by 2011, tenants decided not to move into 3 World Trade and then money was lost for the building, but it was still under construction. In late 2013, 3 World Trade Center had become on hold with the core at 9 floors, but the top 2 floors were hollow, and steel up to 7 floors, but they were putting glass up from October-December. Then finally in 2014, tenants selected to move into 3 World Trade Center. By June 2014, the building "stump" had materials all over the floor for the core to start rising again. By September, all of the materials were on the core, and the first pump of concrete came out after being on hold. When March 2015 came, steel had come to the site for the external structure and floors to rise again. October 2015, glass had started to go on the podium of the building. November is when the building reached its half way mark at 40 floors. Entering 2016, the core was at the 65th floor, and steel at the 37th floor. May 2016, 3 World Trade Center's core had passed 4 World Trade Center (977 feet). Also in May, the tower became a supertall (984 feet-1,968 feet). On Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, 3 World Trade Center workers are signing the last bucket of concrete at the topping off ceremony. The bucket will be hoisted 1,079 feet to the top of 3 World Trade Center's core. In August, retail shops under 3 World Trade Center will be opening. In November. The steel will be finished at 80 floors. In October 2017, the glass will be finished. In April 2018, 3 World Trade Center will open for business.

At last we will finally be able to enjoy the world trade center as it was, after 3 WTC we have 2 WTC , PACWTC, liberty park are built. Don't know will 5 WTC ever get off the ground, but the lower manhattan skyline is almost restored, and I think this is an icon for our generation to look up to and enjoy.

So this will mean that it will take just less than one year to finish the glass.
BTW I hope I will be back in NYC after August and star enjoying the retail floors. Not at the level of The Cheesegrater but for sure the best WTC building so far!

I thought it was 1079 with the crown. I'm kinda confused now. I know it started in the 1200s and then was chopped to the 1100s (with the spires)... and then down to 1079 after the spires were removed. Is this not the case?
