can't help but be reminded of the sheer dominance of the twins from this angle.

From this angle, I wish they kept the spires to detract from the fact that it's a glorified box - even if 2 WTC will block it eventually.

I'd rather look at a glorified box, it's much better than a glorified Art Deco wannabe.
My opinion ofcourse.

This building would look significantly more substantial and aesthetically pleasing with the spires.

I agree completely, absolutely aesthetically pleasing with the spires.

Maybe as a stand alone..
Did you notice we are talking about tower 3(part of a cluster)?
Did you notice NY is loosing a lot of class with all of that architectural mess?
Would you like ugly spires and other rods to sprout like mushrooms after the rain in beautiful and harmonious Chicago??
Only Art Deco knows how to design lovely spires;nowaday, they are sheer fig leaves intended to conceal architectural blandness.

While I would have preferred the spires heavily, they better integrated into the structure when the cross-bracing (not the zig-zag bracing we still have) was still on the table. If you look at the older renderings, they were a seamless extension of the "frame" that the bracing created. It was like a continuous line from the ground to the top.

Very much want them, but reflecting on it, they were probably out the window once the cross-bracing was axed.

Photos Show Scale of Topped-Out Three World Trade Center

Quote:
The latest phase in the multi-tower World Trade Center complex in New York City made headlines in June when its concrete core topped-out at a height of 329 metres (1,079 feet). As the steel floor plates of the soon-to-be 80-storey Three World Trade Center continue their assembly around the core, new photos show the immense scale of the building and its placement in the Lower Manhattan skyline.

That photo really lets the building shine height-wise.

I agree, it is also a fantastic view of the oculus. It looks so fragile in that picture!
