I guess the cladding will be done by May or June.

Get used to the idea that companies develop billion dollar commercial property for profit and not for skyscraper fanboys.
Larry Silverstein is a businessman, not architectural Santa Claus. He put an enormous amount of effort into turning downtown into a very desirable neighborhood from the wasteland that it was and definitely did more for the NY skyline than most people in this city.
To react to your 'Shekelstein' comment, I'd like to invite you to take your hateful BS somewhere else.
Get real. This project has been stifled and stripped by a bombardment of wasteful bureaucracy. If it were not for the bureaucratic slaughter that has protracted the course of this project, these buildings would have been built years ago and at a far less costly price. There is too much special interest conflict with this site.

It's a bad term yes but it's true. The Twins were iconic and part of the most famous skyline in the world. They were unique. They should have at least tried and build another 1WTC. At least one would be without the tacky spire.

But your right on who won. Greed always wins. They could have had most of this done in 2011 if they rebuilt the towers and stopped all the political crap over the years. New York and America deserved better.

WTC3 is fine for what it is. But heck to me even the original WTC7 was a more interesting building.

While i like the removal of the X crosses towards the memorial, because of the cleaner look, i wish they have kept them on the facade that faces towards Brooklyn.

Imagine them in the last picture in post 8307 at night, seen from street level AND iluminated, that would have been terrific and futuristic. But lets wait and see how this one will appear like when itīs done.

What i find really impressive about the last picture in post number 8308 is, that despite itīs height of 329m, which despite the megatall boom in China and various supertall booms in other places is still an impressive height, especially for a tower that has straight walls running up the entire height. It more or less "just" blends in rather then sticking out like it would in many other places.

It's already too late. Once the thing is rising, there is no changes that can be made

1,3,4 WTC with Foster's 2 WTC will be sublime. Big's 2 WTC will ruin everything.

The building, and the site, are completely unremarkable. About the only thing with any architectural merit is the transit center, and that is going to turn into a grimey mess within the decade.

Didn't they do that very thing with #1, change the top while it was being built and almost finished.

Well you're a tough critic.

While I agree on the transit hub having the most merit. The rest of the towers are still quite impressive, as is the park and fountains. To call the site "unremarkable" is much too harsh. Despite some of the value engineering, the site as a whole is amazing, IMO.

As far as Im concerned downtowns skyline is ruined by a bland sea of boring blue glass boxes. The antenna on 1wtc looks terrible and the architecture overall is a bunch of unremarkable boxes. They could have at least built some variation in the glass colors. 2WTC was going to make up for it and then some, but then they bombed the redesign. Luckily midtown is on a tear with all kinds of incredible architecture to make up for it.

Currently, Downtown's skyline is the best IMO
