The WFC was like the children of the original WTC, and now the new WTC is like the children of the WFC. The complex is one giant family.

You know a skyline is crazy when miles of towers look like nothing exists at all and supertalls seem like just one of "them".

For a second I was worried that when this tower is completed that there would be nothing else under construction at the Trade Center. I have gotten so used to seeing cranes at this site. Still, the PAC is U/C and by the time that is complete 2 WTC will hopefully be U/C as well. Still, there is a kind of melancholy to see this complex looking more and more complete, but it does make me happy. Also, thank you everyone on this thread for always providing us with amazing picture updates, they are greatly appreciated!!! Hope to go to NYC myself in the near future and see this beauty completed.

And on top of that, the former Deutsche Bank site will be redeveloped into what will likely be called WTC5. :-)

I kinda still have mixed feelings if i wanna see the reconstruction a success or a relative failure. Maybe I / we are so used of the renders and such that the centre simply cannot evoke enthusiasm anymore. It took them so long to rebuild. Who knows how that affects ones perception.

I also feel like the whole new WTC feels kinda alien, not really New Yorkish. 2 WTC and a 240m WTC5 could change that and anchor the new WTC nicely into itīs urban context. Maybe they are the missing links/connectors.

Yes! I have been saying this since the completion of 1 WTC!!
Ever since they changed the design of the spire, I've been saying the top of 1 WTC looks like an alien spaceship that looks like it's about to shoot out lasers or something, with the way it blinks and lights up.

And then the oculus... it just looks like some alien monster thing straight out of a sci-fi movie.

If 5WTC ever becomes a thing there should be some kind of petition or something with a million people signing calling for it to not be more blue glass. I'm no erbse who wants to abolish architecture and replace it with plagiarising historical buildings, but something to break the uniformity of all the blue glass at the complex is a must here.

I would suggest a mix of beige stone and glass elements in the facade. Old and new combined to glue the WTC with itīs urban environment together.

It will be quite weird when everything is completed and there's absolutely no other construction work in the site in some years.

You mean like the World Financial Center that's already there?

I think 2WTC will turn out better than expected and really tie together 3 to 1. Trying to be optimistic. Just hoping for no more height cuts.

I shall not be happy that the glass is taking so long. And I would not approve a stone and glass facade for such a new tower complex. Maybe this design could be used somewhere else, in another building.

Yeah, man, it does look alien in NYC, but actually it is very nice. Try to get used to it.
