Jesus Christ, the Sears Tower (I refuse to call it Willis Tower) is in dire need of a new cladding job. From that picture, it looks terribly dilapidated.

There was a proposal/vision a few years back to replace it with a lot of glass and brushed stainless/metal.

They need to get at it. It looks like some of the glass plates are covered up by rusted sheet metal. Like it's abandoned. What's up with that?

Yeah, the cladding on the west side is obviously continuing to climb. Just look at the "Hudson River" cam from earth cam and you'll see.

Yup! Looks like they filled in the the last strip of panels on the northern fin and are starting on the western one. Also the bracing is all the way to the top now.

Taken by me today:

That cladding seriously rivals the cladding of 4 WTC, it looks so good! The bracing looks amazing as well!

Thank God the cladding is finally starting to come around the Western side. Cladding on this building feels like has taken forever. Oy vey...

If we are lucky, maybe we have a finished western side by the end of the week.

@ baronson
Thank you very much for the photos. I love the second one. These two look so good together!

Even with the redesign, they still left details that suggest the corner spires were once intented.

I think that's exactly what it looks like...rust. They appear to be vent grates on the mechanical floors.

Sorry without the quad spires, a boring glass box.
Going to be the ugly duckling of the Wtc complex. 🦆
