Never thought it would take this long . It'll be coming up to years by the time it kicks off.

You paint a doom and gloom picture. It isn't half as bad as you are making out.

He's pretty much right. There is only one grand tower and that one is 400 feet too short.

Agreed. If the roof of 1 WTC was 1776' and the spire top 2000' the way it should have been, then I could see an unspoken roof and spire height limit on other new buildings being agreed to for the foreseeable future in NYC out of respect.

Instead now the sky (or the FAA) should be the limit including for 2 WTC.

Your expectations are out of line with reality. This is NYC. You act like you can just build tall for show or prestige in NY (or unlimited money for the most lavish designs), which is not true. Tenants and good finance decisions are required to make a building work. This complex is still taller and more impressive than most developed world leading cities have right now. What other leading developed world global city has a 3 (nearly 4) super tall complex like this? None comes to mind.

1WTC is deceiving shorter in reality, the top 1/3 of the building is mechanical floors and observation deck. So much for “home of the brave”.
Fosters design was the best of the bunch...oh well.
Three lost it spires, and is a bland box with so zig zags on the side.
Four is great...but the now butt ugly 3 tower, blocks its stealth look.

It is PRECISEly what it means: a tower that has been sliced or to be fair wounded... To remind people of the tragedy which took place on 9/11. The Foster building speaks, it has a message. BIG's doesn't say anything.

apparently mechanical floors and observation decks are not affected by gravity so therefore don't count towards the true armchair archi-critic's building height.

The complex looks overwhelming at Liberty Park.

Definitely brings that brutal force the twins imposed!

I know I'll be roasted but I see WTC 3 & WTC 4 as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

None of those cities have skylines IMHO ... just a jangle of disconnected buildings.

In NYC the sum of all the buildings is greater than the parts individually ... in those other cities the Skyline is less impressive than the individual buildings, and even then the buildings in China and Moscow and Dubai are "second choice" towers at best ..

So Shanghai does not have a skyline, let alone a good one? Lol

^ That post is so irritating, this is a NY thread, more precisely a 3WTC thread, if you have something to say about the tower itself say it, otherwise stay out. #DumpIsNeverCute

All those cities have the same type of skyscrapers. Don't get me wrong, some of them are super interesting (like Moscow), but, NY (and Chicago) are beautiful because you have old skyscrapers from the 1930s as well as modern day ones with everything in between. With the added fact that this area of 3WTC isn't even the largest part of the skyline.
