I fully agree with KlausDiggy and I believe his post was necessary! I'm tired or posts that put down entire great cities in this world, just to make New York look greater. We can celebrate the uniqueness and fascination of Manhattan and still appreciate other great cities of this world.

Honestly, this.

Well I said developed countries. I meant mature developed economies, not upstarts emergent or recently developed boom towns like in China or Gulf. I did forget Moscow (not a fan) Surely you could get what I was implying.

Also, China isn't even considered ECONOMICALLY developed statistically yet, look up the numbers today.. I was talking about countries when I mentioned "Developed".

He can, but it disrupts the thread with worthless photos that most NY'esr couldn't care less about. Just state your point without it, no need. Nobody needs to make NY look greater, it does that itself.

Huh? NYC is not the place for patriotic self aggrandizing dick waving competitions anymore where they build for show first, practicality second. That is for those undemocratic nations, for example those where there is still a King in charge - a King in 2017, let those word sink in. Why would they build 400 more feet just to make some kind of statement.. they will build those extra feet if the market demands it, no less.

You cannot be further from the truth with this one. Billionaire's Row is a fine example of why you are dead wrong.

I agree.

Also makes me think about the original WTC where practically and show were fused to perfection. The towers Always looked like something Mies van der Rohe would design, just pure functionality. But due to their gigantic size they were very showful as well.

Ahhh so much for the nostalgia :')

One may think that developers are trying to maximize profit in a town where land, air right and construction prices are astronomical and there's clear demand for these exclusive views around CP by building taller, but apparently it's just their ego.
Ha...

Showful, but did you ever walk around them? The complex unfortunately shut itself off from the street and, consequently, from the city. It really was offputting in spite of the elegance of the main towers' architecture. WTC 3 and its siblings do a much better job of being part of the city.

Is that right? Signs are pointing to a slow down in demand for ultra luxury real estate in the city:

This seems to be the case for corporate office tower complexes built from the 50s-80s.

Nah, billionaires row is practical design compared to the Taj Mahal hypertalls of lavish excess going up elsewhere - Towers of ego in the middle of the desert surrounded by empty space. The developers are just building what the people ( the wealthy foreign and domestic clients) want in NY, no more no less. Those other towers are mere pride driven patriotic babels built for prestige first, economics second.

@Streetscapeer Can you please someday frame all three WTC towers and take one shot, like the render version but from the street level? Especially you, cause you really nail at taking top of the line pics of NY skyscrapers
