Question: How far are they prepared to work on towers 2 and 3 in the absence of further funding and committed tenents? Will they just build to street level and keep the area fenced off and looking like messy unfinished construction sites? Or will they build the temporary "retail stumps" that we've heard about before to open up the sites and make them appear at least superficially complete? If the latter, are there any rendering of what the temporary construction might look like?

Here's hoping that additional funding comes through before work is stopped...

I dunno about 2WTC but they will build the 6 or 7 retail floors of 3WTC even without further funding

T2 will stop at street level. They will build some above ground temporary mechanical structures, and entrances to the below grade retail/transit.

T3 will be built to the 7th floor. It will be capped NET than Nov '13 if no tenant(s) are signed. Silverstein and the PA haven't decided for certain if they'll build out the above ground retail as yet. The podium should be done by next May.

I imagine the cranes will stay on T3 for the duration. But T2's will likely be removed sometime next year if T3 isn't moving forward.

At the bottoms of 2, 3 and 4 are retail floors. Everything else in all the towers is office space (and obvious stuff like mech, skywalks, etc.)

Not 1255 feet?

I was just reading on the Lower Manhattan Info website that "Three WTC is planned to rise 71 stories (1,137 feet)." Why does this website still have it listed as 1255'. I wish it would go higher; but that does not seem like it is going to happen.

There has been a height reduction and X bracing removal in a recent redesign and apparently no mod or admin has noticed the old data in the thread name so far. Larry is trying to make the tower cheaper. Folks like STR, Otie or Spectre will have more info

It's a shame, but nonetheless it will still be a supertall.
Usually cross bracing is cheaper, as it is a more supportive than up and down steel, but I guess not in this case.

They removed 3 measly floors. And you know what? The Empire State Building's main roof is only 1,045 feet up in the air. The roof on this building will be almost 100 feet higher. Is that really that bad.

It's not that bad, I just wish they'd add an extra few meters to 4wtc to make it an official supertall as well

How do they get that WTC 2 and 3 are at street level? They look well below street level to me.

So, is seems as if T3 is more likely than T2 at this point?? If they are redesigning to cheapen it, and they are waiting until '13 to decide to continue or not.

From certain angles they do look like they are below street level. But look at KPI TV's 2WFC cam. You'll see both towers are up to grade. Most of T3's core form works have reached grade. T2's has a couple of form works raised for B1's walls. Plus its steel reaches above street level.

No as I point out before. The silver or grey portion of ESB is the spire.

That's not the main roof. That's the top of the mast. The main roof, where the outdoor observation deck is located, is 318.7 meters.
