That's utterly ridiculous.

that Metlife tower was one of the potentially grand projects cut down by the depression. 3 WTC will be built; a tenant will come along within the next few years with Silverstein aggressively searching for some and Towers 1 and 4 topping out within the year.

So do most people think that 3WTC will find a tenent within 2 years and 2WTC will find one about by the time 3WTC reaches half height?

I know there is no way of knowing exactly.

Yes.

Stephen Ross the CEO of Related, who are building the Hudson Yards said in the fall of last year he was in discussion with 8 or 10 companies who were all looking for at least 1M sf of space. Throw in companies like Jones Day, Milbank, L'Oreal, White & Case, Jefferies & Company, link to that info, and IBM and Microsoft are looking around, so there is plenty of demand.

For the 1000th time, what's holding these towers back from getting tenants isn't a lack of demand it's an immense amount of supply from different developers who are are all trying to court the same 12-15 companies. So if you're a Credit Suisse, you're being courted by Silverstein for the WTC, Brookfield for Manhattan West, Vornado for 15 Penn, and Related for the Hudson Yards, so why not wait it out and see if one of them will lower their rents a little bit to get you to sign a pre lease, or try telling one of them that you're not actually going to move, when you are, but just in an attempt to get them to lower rents.

Edit: Plus, a lot of the current demand is from non financial firms, who are usually one of the sectors to lay people off when the economy slows, but when the economy picks up they're usually one of the first sectors to start hiring again. So assuming the economy continues to get better, and financial firms start growing again in say a year or two, the demand will be even greater.

1 WTC is 60% leased, 4 WTC isn't far behind, and 7 WTC is 100% leased. The need for modern, efficient space is there.

This is my favorite out of the WTC towers.

Looks like the west crane may be going bye bye, unless it's just getting a length or height adjustment.

lowermanhattan.info doesn't mention a "crane removal" like it did for 2WTC. Hopefully there just moving it out of the way to make room for the coming steel work.

By GreenwichBoy, tower crane gone, and looks like the formworks were raised another level.

Yes, it seems they removed the crane - the KPI cam tonight showed light pouring up through the empty square hole where the crane once stood.

Does anyone know what the original height of the building was supposed to be? The reason I ask is because I want to make a rendering showing changes between the first design (with X-Bracing), and the current plans.

I read it was 1250 somewhere, but just wanted to check in advance.

From the KPI webcam. It looks like the entire ground floor is completed.

There's still work to do on the southeastern portion of the ground floor slab.

3WTC was originally 1255ft(383m). After that, it was lowered to 1240ft(378m). The design as it is is 1170ft(357m). Hope I could help

Yes, that does help thanks! I assume the 1170 figure is to the tip of the spires or is that parapet?

Maybe they planned to keep it but something came along and plans had to be changed.

I was thinking it would have been used to erect the perimeter steel that's supposed to be coming in next month, but it appears the one installed on the core would be doing a better job of that.
