Good question. Plus when it was there it never seemed to be doing anything. But you are right, I think they only removed it for 3 months. Makes no sense.

Or, maybe they just moved it since it had nothing to do there, so they don't have to pay for it. Now they need it back ,so it's back.

So this tower will hopefully go up as fast as one57 and maybe even the Empire State Building

I don't think its speed will differ much from 1WTC and 4WTC

it will be significantly faster than tower 1. With the amount of welding, Tower 1 is effectively a continuous piece of steel, from basement to top.

Just based on the design, T3 has considerably less welding.

Also, core ahead of steel with embed clips is much faster (despite the fact that embeds are always off and requires CONSTANT surveying.

You are erecting to a rigid structure that has no adjustment, whereas with a steel ahead of concrete building, you have adjustment in the steel connections which you then make plumb after (and prior to welding)

But iirc they will use the steel first method for the office floors built after a tenant has been secured. Though I could be wrong

you could be right, but I am not familiar with them changing methods within the same building.

Then why did he say it would be the fastest tower yet to be built?

This Tower will probably rise faster than towers 1 and 4 because it has no distinctive shape that requires more steel .
It goes straight up, and the construction of this tower closely resembles that of the Comcast Tower In Philadelphia, which was completed in a little under 2 years.

3WTC is being built to the 7th floor before going on hold.

I believe it's at the 6th floor now. I wouldn't be surprised if they go to the 9th floor instead. Seems kind of silly not to build all of the podium.

while i agree. dont forget to add in your 'lower manhattan' and 'PANYNJ' factors.

so add at least 15% for that.

I love 3WTC. Just wish it was still 1,255 ft. It's impressive at its current height, but would be even more impressive at its original height.

ummm, I may have missed something here but what happened with the height? Did the actual roof height get reduced? If so, from what to what?

In my opinion, now that the cross bracing was removed, I'm not looking for 3WTC to be that stunning. That's WTC1 and 2's jobs. I just want it built, dammit

Yeah, it was. The bracing on the main part of it was removed too. Here, take a look at the old design and at the new design next to it:
