NOO!!! The old one looked better. I was aware of a design change for a while but this is the first time that I have seen it. Why New York, why?

Call me crazy but I like the design without the cross braces. The first one looked too messy, imo.

Because every change made to the WTC site has to be for the worse, those are the rules unfortunately.

Did they lower the height of the building in the new re-design?

It wasn´t NEW YORKS decission to redesign this tower, it was Silversteins decission to make it cheaper and more likely to be rented/built.

Yeah, by about 100 feet. The old height was 1,170 ft. (1,240 ft. to the spires), the current design is 1,079 ft., and 1,170 ft. to the spires.

Indirectly you are. Much of the redevelopment of the WTC is government funded. $600 million of 3WTC will be paid for by the state of NY, city of NY, and PA NY&NJ once they secure an anchor tenant.

What do you think all the toll increases are paying for?

Isn't that what 2WTC's doing? BTW the bracing makes it unique.

Sheesh I'd love for this thing not to stop, I'm hoping someone is lured in by the idea of it possibly being delivered faster than any of the other things proposed.

With 1 and 4 nearing topping out, this thing rising , 2 being at street level and the transportation hub taking shape you can see a ways off in the distance the light at the end of the tunnel for this whole thing. It'll be a huge relief when it's all finished.

Besides with 1WTC and One57 topping out soon and 432 Park's base still being worked on and it not being quite ready to start rising yet, if this stops we may have to endure a small period where there is no supertall actually rising in NY, ohhh the humanity !!!

Hudson Yards South Tower (Coach Tower) will start contruction this fall (October). Also, One Hudson Yards should get going by the end of the year. So don't worry, there always be at least 1 supertall U/C in NY.

The PA and Silverstein always asked architects who want to participate in the design competition to make plans for a site which can be developed in stages. It´s no wonder some buildings won´t be finished as off.

The former trade centre was also finished in phases. This is not a site for spec towers, this is real business.

Yeah I understand that, just a poor choice of words.

I'm also a bit disappointed now. From a distance it will seem like every WTC building including WTC 7 has the same shiny, blueish cladding. I mean the qualitiy of the cladding is good as we can see at the WTC 1 and 7 but it could turn out to be bopring. I liked the bracing. They just cancel the unique things of the buildings (spire, bracing) and hope they will get more tenants in the end?? A strange way of doing business...

The reflective cladding apparently is apparently 'cleaner' and less expensive to use.
