It looks like the east crane is getting swallowed by the core. Does it have a jumping mechanism? Several months ago someone said neither crane could jump and probably would have to be taken apart in order to add a way to jump. Indeed, the west crane was completely removed and was eventually brought back and can now rise with the tower.

Edit: Looking at the KPI TV archive, I see that the east crane has been jumping all along. Did they add a system like what's used on the top of 1WTC? Also, I see that the west crane is a different model from the one that was there previously.

Could the rise of the core be at last proof that the tower will go without being on hold? I surely hope it is

I have a feeling when Tower 1 has its topping out ceremony they'll announce the full continuation of Tower 3.

So the core is at 8th floor now. The base has 9 floors. If the core keep rising above 10 floors, we will be sure this is not stopping.

I hope so, the WTC has been a construction site for more than a decade. That doesn't make Silverstein or NYC look good. Plus, the 'rebuilding' idea was publicized too much to simply stop. I have a feeling Silverstein's company has enough money to build Tower 3, even if Tower 2 and 5 are on hold. And as someone mentioned before, the World Trade Center is a universally known name; surely companies will want to move there at some point.

I'm with Hudson 11. I think this thing will go full speed ahead once glass is complete on 1WTC. Hopefully that will be sometime in November, but you never know...

They just added the already achieved milestones to the 2008-or-so schedule.

Until we hear an official announcement I would rather recommend you folks to have low expectations of this project, that way you'll avoid having some silly tantrums.

Otie, in your opinion, what do you believe all this is?
It might not be true about it continuing, but what do you think?

I don't believe in anything, just sticking to the facts. The 2010 Port Authority-Silverstein Agreement states the building will rise to 7 stories with the core stopping at the 9th floor. I haven't heard anything about keeping raising the core in the reports I receive, all work is being focused on building core slabs, stairs and related stuff inside the core lower floors, ironworkers are erecting steel and MEP work is taking place at the subgrade floors.

In order to receive financial help from the Port Authority, Silverstein must lease 400,000 sq feet, acumulate $300,000 of private equity and find a financing for the construction. If a tenant is already secured, or a couple of them, the media would have already said something.

I dunno but what if Larry somehow accumulated enough money to build this building right now? He would still recieve the PA money later once he gets tenants, right? I can imagine that if this is the case he would try to build it asap so that tenants don't have to wait

You Know, I hope it continues but Otie does make apoint.
And As I've said on the 2 world trade center thread, (either here, or ssp)
We can't build an office tower just so it will "fill the gap" or just sit there.
It's like buying a car for a 9 year old and letting it sit there until he turns old enough to drive it, It's useless until it's needed.
I do think that tower 3 will find a tenant and very soon, but i doubt that it will rise yet. But then again, who knows.

From what Iv'e heard, all of the steel for the tower has been ordered and fabricated but there is a hold on actually building Tower 3 until that 400,000 sq ft has been leased. Had Silverstein won the additional $4.4 billion he sought from insurers over the attacks, all 4 towers would probably be underway, tennant or no tennant.
