Another potential tenant!

The financial capital of the world powers on!!!

From the WSJ 29 Aug. 2012 edition:

http://professional.wsj.com/article/...235307218.html

Citi's Towering Ambitions

Citigroup Inc. may be scouting for a new skyscraper.

No, the big bank isn't expected to leave its current headquarters at 399 Park Ave. in Midtown Manhattan. But the company is said to be scouting for a new location to replace 2.6 million square feet of space it currently rents at 388-390 Greenwich St. in the trendy Tribeca neighborhood. The space is the onetime headquarters of Travelers Group and is owned by SL Green Realty Corp. SLG -0.23%That lease expires in 2020.

Citigroup managers had discussions with several landlords about developing a new tower for the company, according to multiple real-estate executives briefed on the discussions. The search is still early and Citigroup could decide to stay in place.

"Although we're always in touch with the real-estate community about space that's coming on the market over the coming years, we don't have any plans to change our footprint in New York City at this point," says Janis Tarter, a spokeswoman for Citigroup.

The timing on any decision is unclear. But the bank has been in touch with developers including Related Cos. and Brookfield Properties Inc., BPO.T -1.01%both of which own development sites on Manhattan's far West Side, and World Trade Center developer Silverstein Properties Inc., the executives said.

Not all surprising. I really don't expect Citi to stay there, and am frankly surprised they've been there as long as they have. It's an old office building in an on out of the way location.

Just as an FYI, if Citi were to move all of their operations from the building the article references, 388-390 Greenwich, into 3 WTC they would occupy 2.6M of 2.8M sf. This has the potential to be an enormous move.

I agree Yankeesfan. When the econonmy and banking industry recover, I bet that many financial institutions will seek millions of sf of space.

2.8 million square feet? That would be close to the entire tower iirc

Silverstein's $2.8 Bln 9-11 Lawsuit Against Massport

Lawsuit over poor security practices at Boston Logan Airport that allowed hijackers past the gate. Multiple parties, including WTC leaseholder Silverstein. If Silverstein wins full amount, he might well start up both 2 and 3 WTC...

They would only do that if they are desperate for money.

Silverstein is desperate for money. This lawsuit may not rank up there with low-brow ambulance chasing, but it's pretty low.

There were a lot of mistakes before and on 9/11. Heck, IIRC F-16's had to take off without ammunition or missiles near DC. Why not sue the US Air Force too? Silverstein should drop this case and move on.

If this lawsuit passes, people in the airport will be tackled to the ground by security guards for checking the time on their ipod
There was no possible way of knowing if those terrorists were actually terrorists. And even so, security is so strong that might just be impossible to hijack a plane anymore.

Well one of the pilots did say she was ready to ram one of the plains. But I do agree it's a bs lawsuit and I hope he doesn't get any money out of it.

The threat of kamikaze planes shouldn't be underestimated. The tighter airport security is the better

There's caution, and then there's straight up paranoia.

Unless the employed pilot himself is a suicidal maniac, there's basically no chance of another attack.
