Any new tenants will be funneled into 3 WTC.

3 WTC's podium is being constructed and it won't be finished until Fall 2013. If more tenants are found, the construction will continue un-interrupted. With the economy recovering, and the presidential election over, tenants will be found for 3 WTC.

Once 3 WTC is filled, 2 WTC will begin construction.

My guess is when 3 WTC opens, the Transport Hub is finished and the 2016 Presidential Elections are over that 2 WTC will begin construction.

So most likely 2019 or 2020 when 2 WTC will be completed.

I must admit I am pretty depressed that we wont be seeing 2wtc go up anytime soon. The best of the towers(Imo). I hope they find a tenant and we dont have to wait 10yrs to see it done. Also no design change please.

Why didn't they just build 1 and 2 first, and leave 3 & 4 for later? This way we would have had (at least temporarily) fraternal twin towers. We sorta have that with 1 & 4 but 4 is too short, relative to 1 and it is separated too far.

Agreed That would have been far better, however Larry's greed decided otherwise

If he would go 2,3,4,7 instead of 7,4,3,2 then he would have, as of construction start of 4WTC, 2 billions more, which is only 900 millions less than the cost of 2WTC. I think that by now, which is nearly 3 years after 4WTC reached street level those 900 millions would be earned and 2WTC would have been well under way. Instead we have 4WTC and 7WTC, which are completely insignificant to the skyline

We've had this discussion about why the buildings were built in the order they were a hundred times before. Please lets no do it again.

You already know the true reasons, no need to write them again.

That's true, but it still makes me sad because I love this building

If I'm not mistaken this was already discussed less than 15 pages ago.

Towers aren't built just to stand pretty for the skyline and have nobody working in them.

They are built according to the need.

Building 7 was mandatory. The Con sub Edison sub-station is built under it.

Multiple times. Best way to stop this the start of the construction.

Not only that but everytime someone trys to hi-jack a plane half the passangers will jump on them. I dont think we'll ever see another 9/11 in the same way. We're too smart for that now

Maybe the architect for the Hudson Yards residential tower took inspiration from Foster's design of 2 WTC

Maybe, but the only comparison I see is a glass tower with a slanted roof....Oh, and nearly the same height,

2WTC has far better proportions than the Hudson Yards Towers. Hudson Yard's architects could learn a thing or two from Foster
