I like it. Try to look at it like 4 separate buildings. It could have open air walkways on each floor between each building. Brilliant!

Design is ok for 600+ but only when it's thinner than that, at least 1/2.

Not here at this location. The drawing already shows that the proportions are totaly off compared to the other WTC towers.

I love it even with those proportions, but I agree that it would look better if it would be thinner at that height. I always felt that the new WTC lacks the visionary height of the old complex, which at its time were the two tallest buildings in the world. This new complex even has a shorter second tallest building than the old one had, which is in my opinion a big humiliation. The Twin Towers were something special at their time, this complex is just a complex of office buildings when compared to other buildings we see rise today.

Keep in mind that we are getting three, almost four new supertalls. The old WTC was iconic for its height and simplicity and its effect on the skyline. Rebuilding the twins was never a good idea imo. With the recent surge in construction it is good for downtown to hold its own against midtown/Hudson yards areas

You get the same dominating effect of the 2 twins with one giant supertall

Dont you think it needs to be taller? It looks disappointing next to the old WTC

Design is always more important than height, with no exceptions. If a building must be tall, it has to be properly designed to fit that height. 2WTC wouldn't look good being taller than 1WTC by such a height, maybe 100 meters at most..
Mecca set height as a higher priority over design, and look at how it turned out.

Edit: Dubai too.

It really is disappointing when you compare those two. Design is more important than height but height is important too and ignoring height in such a major way as the new WTC does is simply wrong in so many aspects

Height is important in this case because the height spirals down from 1WTC to 4WTC and down to the bulk of the skyline.
It was designed in that way, so a 2000 ft 2WTC is out of the question.

i think the twins dominated more because their was only 2 of them

and i think with 3 and 4 wtc its kind of like a descending trend like u have 1 wtc then 2 then u go downhill into 3 (which is shorter then that pic above) and 4 then the rest
