I have mixed feelings about Hermitage. It looks so weird.

Indeed, but it's never done before, and I think it will put Paris (Ok La défense) on the map for the rest of the world. And it fits well in front of the other odd buildings there. Btw have you ever seen what was there before?

No, I haven't, but I'm guessing it's hideous.

And Paris already is on the map. It's ranked as the third greatest global city currently. The Eiffel Tower has to be among the 5 most recognized landmarks on the planet.

Sadly, you are right. He is the one to blame for the construction of tower 2 being still on hold.

Your opinions are in accordance with the rest of the frustrated forumers here.

To answer your question, though, it's funding and tenant space. 2WTC is considerably larger, which naturally makes it more expensive.

Well, Larry is a very greedy fella so I wouldn't be surprised if the design would change in order to be cheaper to build

You know what would have been greedy? If he had retired after 9/11. And he very well could have. But here he is, in his 80s, working his ass off trying to fill the hole in the heart of lower NYC, with one of the most expensive, high quality group of towers ever built. They don't pay for themselves. This project is one of the most important for the USA, and the most stressful, and you have the nerve to say he is greedy? And then there's the fact that most of it was built in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. He has every right to be cautious about spending money. But no, all you people care is about a few dozen meters chopped off the height. Boo frikkin hoo.

None of his buildings reach the height of the Twin Towers and he builds them from the smallest 'til the tallest. That is just so uniconic. If he cared about anything other than greed he would have built taller building/s and he would start from the tallest one

No, height is completely insignificant to the USA. They have no need for it, since they are not insecure of their power. Even so, they had the world's tallest building until 2004. The height game is unimportant and obsolete in such a developed country and even still, the USA is pushing it with all these new residential towers.
You know what would be uniconic? If he built a parking lot over the entire thing, but instead he is giving lower manhattan a rebirth with the highest quality office buildings ever made. But all everyone cares about is a few meters or so lost, and, get this, the order they're being built in. Calling him greedy..pfft. You people are the greedy ones! It's infuriating to see such ignorant comments, my god.
