Then where are the foundations for the steel columns that still have to be placed at the section between the red lines? Because that will be (roughly) the final footprint of the tower:

And since there's a subway station directly below that section I wonder how they'll deal with the foundations for tower 2 there. They can't drill too deep because then they'll end up in the station. I also wonder how it will support all that weight of the foundations plus the building itself. I think will eventually break open that whole section and reinforce it.

The tower itself has been built to grade, so it won't need extra foundations. Perhaps the podium might.
(I cant see your pic, so I am just guessing about the podium)

I think we have misconceptions about the word 'foundations' here. I didn't mean the foundations at bedrock level, I meant the concrete slab or blocks on which the remaining 8 steel columns have to rest that still have to go in at the section east of the current eastern edge of building. When you look at the Earthcam Oculus cam, then it's the section where the brown and green containers and the blue portable toilets are standing right now. I don't see any connection points for the remaining columns there. And since those concrete blocks or slab on which those remaining steel columns will rest are to distribute the weight and provide a stable surfice, those are called foundations too so far as I know, doesn't matter if they're at bedrock level or not.
I hope you guys now understand what I was talking about

If you go back and look at some of the pictures taken before the play of area was closed in, you will see that there are supports in that area for the beams you mentioned.

You just need to back a year and half or so in this thread and you will see ...this is what you don't see that has all been built below grade a long time ago...all the foundations for the tower structure are in place

Subway is actually under Church street just east of the building, Path train runs just west of the building, neither pass underneath WTC2

It's ridiculous how long it has been taking to construct these buildings and all the holds that have been delaying progress. However, these are probably some of the strongest buildings on Earth.

I agree. There is no reason to make this one taller than 1WTC anyway.

I completely agree with you. 30 meters more would make it 417 meters so the exact height of 1WTC. Replacement skyscrapers should be taller than what they are replacing, or at least identically tall. I always felt that it is a huge humiliation that the new 2WTC is supposed to be shorter than the old 2WTC, which was 415 meters.

^ this does not bother me cuz we have added height in 4wtc near 1,000 ft & 3wtc over 1,000 ft than the buildings its replacing.

They better not change anything with 2wtc or there will be hell to pay!

In my opinion several shorter buildings are not a worthy replacement for one taller building.

The towers act as steping stones-1 WTC>2 WTC>3 WTC>4 WTC.

There doesn't need to be any more height increases, or design changes. Lets just get these buildings built.

That's 432 Park Avenue. You should see the renders of it before making a final judgement.

Or look at it while building because I don't like it on renders but the more I see it getting built, the more I like it. Maybe I'll finally love it! Just wait for it to be built.
