While this is good news to a certain degree, there is no guarantee that he'll win the case. The insurance money was partly what delayed the WTC site construction for many years. This is an ongoing saga.

I doubt he's getting $2b from the insurers, but if he did, he'd build on spec.

I definitely think so. 2 WTC is Silverstein's baby and will consider this his trophy building!

Well, guys, nothing new here. Until he will find some anchor tenants we won't see something new. Yes, he will get this 2 billion $. But, anyway, he need to find tenants to continue construction.

I don't think that he'll necessarily get $2b. If he did, he would have so much equity that he could build on spec. Larry is old and wants to see this project completed.

Agreed. I actually think there's a slim chance that he'll get the $2B, however I'm hoping I wrong. The center of this lawsuit is whether it was one or two incidents that brought down the former Trade Towers. The insurance companies claim that it was one, while Silverstein and the Port Authority claim it was two (since two different planes destroyed the buildings). This is been an ongoing issue since 9/11.

What's the status of the hearing in July? Is it before the SDNY or the Second Circuit? Also, does it address a summary judgment motion? I don't know the history of this case.

This is all about interpretation of the insurance contracts?

If he gets his money, wouldn't he still build tower 3 first?

3 wtc is all ready to go, all it needs is an anchor tenant and the city and state will provide more funds to cover construction costs. Several hundred million up to 2.4 billion is enough to start another project outright out of speculation.

New WTC complex rather looks like a corner of Chicago.

Wow, I really hope Larry gets his 2 billions. That would certainly be a big boost to the rebuilding effort. Who knows, maybe he would even increase the height of tower 2, if he got that money, however we have to wait and see how the lawsuit will develop
