According to LMI they began foundation work on June 1st. That's officially under construction.

LMI not's always reliable. The earthcam's don't show enough of the sites to make a determination. The RBZ cam probably would.

At least it is a positive sign that they are at work there. We'll see soon enough if this is construction or not.

i can't tell for sure, but for me it looks like prep. there's no need to move this thread to the U/C section yet. let's wait for other recent pics.

Woah, hold on. Are they actually building the tower or a retail stump? Obviously the tower's site needs to be completed to ground level regardless. That doesn't mean 2 WTC is under construction.

They're building it up to grade as if they were going to build the tower, and depending on financing (about a year and a half from now) they will build a temporary retail stump or continue the tower.

Very exciting Indeed! That looks UC to me. Even though it is currently unknown if the tower is to be completed above the podium, I would think the tower would still qualify as UC since foundation work is still for the main tower.

yep, they're building the foundation to hold a 1,300 foot building, not a field.

By morrongiello, 6-15-10. You can see they've added a crane in the bathtub now. I'd say we can move this to U/C section. The bad thing with all the space still for lease in the others towers, it's gonna be a park or a stump for many years. Frankly, I'd rather see 3 or 4 fully leased buildings instead of 4 or 5 nearly vacant ones.

I'd much rather have 4-5 nearly vacant towers. Because then they're at least there, and will fill up over time.

But you can't pay the bills without tenants. Silverstein would wind up defaulting on his loans and lose the towers.

Do you really think Silver would build the towers, knowing if he does he would have to sell them or even worse go bankrupt.. Come on..

But lets just cross our fingers and hope the market changes enough so they can build it completely..

Considering all that Larry Silverstein has done to rebuild the WTC site, I would hate to see him lose these towers once their built.
