If even WTC2 will be cancelled, doesn't mean "WTC5 FORMER SITE" and Performing Arts Center will be cancelled. You sound like a drama queen where one project will be cancelled, so there rest of project will be cancelled as well.

By the way, how high or how many stories could we except the Performing Arts Center to be? Has there been any official word on this?

There are no rendering for the Permorming Arts center yet, but I suspect, the closer we get to start of contruction (sometime in late 2015 or 2016), we'll get one, so hopefully some time next year.

The plans for the performing arts center in the new World Trade Center have changed, once again, because of finances. The Times reports that starchitect Frank Gehry is still designing the project, but the multi-layered, tree-studded model we've come to know will not be what rises on the site. The art hub's primary tenant was to be Joyce Theater, which planned to make the space a home for dance, and while Joyce Theater will still be involved, dance will only be one piece of the pie. The arts center's board decided that a multi-disciplinary space would be more viable.

That means the design is changing as well—and by "changing," we mostly mean "downsizing." Instead of four stages, including a 1,000-seat theater, there will be just two stages, one of which will be a 200-seat flex space. The size of the main theater has yet to be determined. The Joyce Theater's president said "there will be a whole new redesign." How does Mr. Gehry feel about this? "The other program was grand and big, and it seemed in scale with the place," he told the Times. "We've got a smaller program now because of finances. I don't take time to look backwards. We'll make something out of it that works." That's the attitude!

it will looks something like this but they are working on cutting a cost down. Yes, we don't have latest renderings yet

Please, something simple and elegant for the PA Center! No stack of boxes like that render, or a Gehry/Liebiskind mess!

How about a simple box? Or maybe making it 6 WTC! OR both! (Excuse me if I sound crazy but it's not impossible, right?)

That first one would really complement the 9/11 Museum.

2 WTC is not (and will not be) cancelled.

I hope it doesn't get cancelled, but I guess we all want this to be built.

This tower is Silverstein's trophy building and everyone knows it. We just have to wait for a major/ anchor tenant.

It is? I never knew that! I thought 1 WTC was because it's the main building of the complex.

I guess we learn something new every day!

Yea, Durst controls 1 WTC project, while Silverstein handles the rest of the towers in the complex.

Well, if I was controlling every tower except number one, 2 WTC would be my trophy tower, too. Maybe Silverstein will just give up eventually and build this before tenants come. And when tenants see the beautiful finished tower, they'll come in. Like the old 2 WTC and 1 WTC.

I'm assuming tenants don't look at a tower because of its architecture entirely, but we can still hope.

1WTC is part of Silvertein's towers. Also to be noted, Silverstein wanted to build 2WTC ahead of 3WTC but had to settle for the latter because the pricetag would've been too high for the PA.

I'm not saying 2 WTC is better than 3 (although it is higher than 3 on my top ten buildings list) but I think we all wanted 2 WTC to be built ahead of 3.

Silverstein owns the land Tower 1 is being built on via a 99 year lease but does not own the 1 WTC Tower itself. 1 & 5 WTC are Durst and PA properties. Under the Silverstein umbrella are 2, 3, & 4 WTC towers. It is really complicated and if I'm not mistaken, it goes all the way back with the agreement he had made with Durst and PA when he secured the 99 year lease before the “event” or shortly after the "event".

Sorry I mean't to say 1WTC isn't part of the towers being developped by Silverstein.
