I don't think there would be any point in building it then if it got flat topped.

Larry would NEVER do anything to this tower, it's his favorite. It will be built the way it is proposed if it takes 20 years to build.

What exactly how things have been going?? Forget all the politics that had been in play since 2001 that slowed the whole process and the recession that we had just gotten out of. I mean Rome was not built in a day & NYC is thriving now.

Come 2014 in the first quarter, T1, T4, T7 have been completed & T3 races to join them once GroupM finalizes Seems to suggest to me things are finally getting pretty damn good.

Citibank just a month ago was seriously thinking 2 WTC. They had narrowed it down between this and the place they ultimately had chosen. The news of interest from a prospective tenant came much sooner than I had expected for 2WTC.

Larry is not going to make any concessions just to build tower 2 right away. He will build it on his terms and that is when the market improves to a point when he can lease the building at his asking. Case in point... Larry did not bend for Citi & Citi went somewhere else.

2WTC will be built and design is not going to change (maybe minor mods). 2 WTC is a major design element of Libeskin's master site plan to just change it up drastically.

I agree. I meant that it can't get taller, but there always is the possibility of making it shorter or making it without the diamond top. I hope this will not happen but I agree that Larry's greed should not be underestimated. But I think that the market is in a good condition and it is steadily improving so I don't think this will happen, however, it still is possible

I think it has a 0.00000000001% chance of happening.

Destroy the foundation and build a spireless twin to tower one.

Why? Larry would still be stuck in the same situation; lack of tenants.

He would actually have to find a huge anchor tenant if they decided to go that way.

Unrealistic and costly.

I agree with you, however such a change is sadly impossible as of this moment. They have built too much of the tower to now just raze it and start from scratch again. Too much money would be lost and nobody, especially not somebody as greedy as Larry, would ever do something as uneconomic as this

Enough with these twin tower pipe dreams. 2WTC is the most beautiful of them all. I can't see how any fan of this project would prefer an alteration to this design.

Twin "Freedom Towers" wouldn't even look good like the originals. The twisting of them would just look odd from a distance. I think the current plan they have for the complex is amazing, just be grateful for what you have. We had to learn that the hard way with the original complex.

If they tear down any Lower Manhattan building to build a 1 WTC twin ... they should tear down the Goldman Sachs Building.

Yes let's tear down a three year old tower so we can build a twin on the wrong side. Jesus guys give it up. What's so great about seeing the same building twice other than nostalgia?

...because everyone deep down is a "Nimby", it just depends what it is they [do not] want.

Isn't all that "stuff" forming the outer perimeter of T2 just mechanical for the Trans Hub until the actual podium progresses?
