Nothing has changed for a while so I don't care.

Yup, you're right, although I don't know if they ever plan on building the first floor of the podium without a tenant. I think the building will stay exactly as it is now until an anchor tenant is found

Do you guys have any brains to post something stupid as this?

#1 Building is on HOLD. What part is not clear?
#2 - Enough with twins already. They already decided on design of complex, they just waiting for market to improve in order to build it. Same thing happen with original WTC complex.
#3 - Destroy a foundations? Seriously? /facepalm.

i think it would build faster if they decided to make them part condo/apartments or a hotel

There is one major problem making it part condo/apartment/hotel, there is no parking associated with the building. That's fine as a office building because residents of New York commute to work using public transit. However, anyone who would buy an condo of that price or rent an apartment at that price certainly would want parking for at least one vehicle as part of the deal. Same goes for people visiting a hotel of that caliber, many would be driving and require a place to park.

That what they plan to do with WTC 5 site but nothing yet set. There has been talk before to convert that site into hotel and/or apartment site.

Not to mention this complex is the World Trade Center, indicating a commercial complex. I don't think foreign billionaires and the developers trading several million dollars for residences is what the name indicates.

But a hotel should be in their interest though.

Hotels don't require the massive floor plates that office buildings do though, which is why it's silly to convert even one square foot of this to anything other than office. As we're witnessing on 57th St, and down by the South St Seaport where another outrageously thin hotel is going up, apartments and hotels can sprout up pretty much anywhere, but office buildings can't. It's frustrating to see this not rising out of the ground, but it's in the best interest of the city over the long term to reserve this for pure commercial use.

I was just looking at the supertall page on Wikipedia, and it seems the good people there are under two misconceptions: one) that the tower has a projected start in 2014 and two) that the tower is under construction. Is a user on this forum a writer and/or editor for Wikipedia perchance?

Not that I don't believe you, but is there a source on him saying it's his favourite?

I am, but only for the German Wiki because the rules are pretty strict. The English Wiki just has too many trolls lol ...

It was technically U/C a year ago but the stump is now capped. The 2014 start date was just some old item that hasn't been updated (because it can't be updated other than "TBD" until a tenant is found). Wikipedia is terrible, btw.

I agree. At one point I read that there were plans for a restaurant near the top floors.

That's strange because the old 3WTC was a Marriott Hotel.

True, I forgot about that. However, it was built almost a decade after the original 5 buildings.
