Yamasaki proposed 3WTC to be a hotel in the initial plans, but it was delayed and its design was changed.

Thanks. I still find putting a hotel in a trade complex a bit odd...

It was really convienent for executives and businessmen who attended meetings in the towers to rent a hotel room there if they were from a different city.

The idea of the WTC as a "trade complex" is really what's strange. It's just a collection of office buildings. There's nothing special about it compared to any other commercial district. (Plus, a hotel would have fit pretty well, at least to the extent it would have been a business hotel and not a tourist one.)

The objections to including hotels, residential, etc. in the WTC always struck me as bizarre and romanticized.

True, the word "World" is just as important.

I don't know why, but I have a feeling this building will get an anchor tenant this year. Here's to hoping.

There was the Marriott Hotel which was part of the complex. Remember the bombing in '93? The van was in the basement garage.

No Hotel in 2 WTC!!!! Nuts.

The Millenium Hotel & soon to be Four Seasons are practically located at the outer perimeter of the WTC complex so there is plenty options for the biz traveler.

If there must be an hotel element within the complex, I would think the best candidate would be 5 WTC.

Exactly. 5 WTC was actually proposed to be a hotel.

yes, I forgot that that one will have a hotel as well. That tower is almost around the corner.

What about keeping it in it's current superstructure design but converting the floors to Condos. If i had the money I'd move there in a second.

Let's not forget about:
8 Spruce Street (New York by Gehry)
123 Washington Street (W New York Downtown Hotel and Residences) which has amazing views and a observation deck of The New World Trade Center.
