Greenwich and Vesey Street, 1350 or so feet off the ground, several years in the future.

Of course the tower will be value engineered. What else did you expect? Just take a look at what happened to 1 and 3WTC. 4WTC is already very minimalistic, so there was nothing to scratch.

So my guess for 2WTC:
1. cheaper looking cladding
2. redesign of the diamonds
3. height reduction (~1,250ft)

Otherwise the tower won't go off the ground.

I hope they're just doing so for estimate purposes. Steel, glass, concrete, mechanical costs, etc.

The site is just about to have some of the fences come down and the museum opened. I think all that is going to seriously help marketing the site to potential tenants.

It's not going to be one huge construction zone for much longer.

given all of the bullshit we've seen over the last decade related to the WTC complex, expect the worst.

It's speculation based on bad experience.

Height reduction is a very likely option. The spiral effect would still apply as 3WTC got a height cut.

Indeed, and this is on the corner of the whole site.

Pfffff... Better hold down construction till 'real' economic growth untill 2024 for example than a reduced design! Don't forget that this buildings will stand for centuries to come.

Sad that it takes 20 years to 'heal' the 9/11 scars in the manner of cover up the visual effects... (mentioning that it will take at least till the 20's for completion if 2WTC finds an ancor tennant.)

I doubt a redesign of 2 WTC is in the works.

A redesign of the design would be unacceptable. Height, location, facade and glass is perfect. Anything less is unacceptable. I could wait a few more years for the economy to recover to see this building rise as it should.

Sadly, Silverstein probably won't live to see this building up and running.

While I don't know him personally, I get the impression he's a greedy a-hole... so not really anything sad about that.

Obviously 1wtc was meant to be the most iconic in the new complex but 2wtc would have/ will overtake it in popularity. 2 wtc has already been featured in movies. The design as it stands now is too damn iconic. If some dingbat wants to change the design now, they might as well go ahead and turn this into a big pink hole in the ground.
