Once 3WTC goes vertical, it could be much sooner than you think for 2 WTC.

absolutely right. Considering the hunger for modern office space in the current market and the rising popularity of downtown, I think we'll see some action in the not too distant future, within the next 2 years is very plausible.

Not to mention all the current office space in Lower Manhattan being converted to residential. There will certainly need to be new office space to recoup for that.

All the office space is going to China. This is the end of the run. New york is going residential now.

WTC 3 going vertical? I feel WTC 3 is topped out.

I would love to see the project be built.

Midtown will need to replace its old office space soon. That's why the midtown east rezoning is inevitable. China is mostly building mixed-use, and for Chinese companies. 2 WTC will happen eventually. It may, however, not be finished before 2020.

Well, looks like 3 WTC is going vertical starting in a few weeks. According to Otie tower cranes will arrive and will be reassembled on site. This could be hopeful news for 2WTC. Maybe it will not be long at all.

Well we need more tenants in 1, 3 and 4 WTC first before they start to even consider creating more office space with this tower. The market seems to be pretty good right now, so maybe it won't take too long after all. Here's to hoping.

Not necessarily. 2WTC has huge trading floors, iirc the biggest ones of the whole WTC complex. So if a bank or company is in need for those floors, they could very well go for tower 2.

Hello all. Come December when a portion of the PATH Hall will open, the access routes will then be from the SE corner of T4 and between the tower and podium portion of T2 on the north side. All of the entrances that will be opening to provide access will be the permanent ones included in the designs of the towers. Once the Vesey St fencing near the T2 entrance is repositioned to accommodate for that, the other portions of the fence will also be expanded.

Here is a photo of the T2 entrance provided by Enigmatism415

For reference, here is what will be opened December to provide access to the PAT Hall. Also note that the Dey Street Concourse will be open by then.

Is 2 World Trade Center the only WTC building without an official website? If so, will it get one when construction resumes?

7 WTC doesn't have it's own site, it has it's own page though on Silverstein Properties' website.

2 WTC will get it's own site once it is confirmed to be continuing construction like what happened with 3 WTC.

I want to see 2WTC built, along with the whole WTC site. And it will be built, eventually, through sheer force of will or some hail-mary backup investment. But if you want it actually used then you can't just do nothing and expect the world to clamor at your feet. They need to make it competitive with Related's projects in the Hudson Yards. They need to price for tenants more affordably if they want to attract businesses to Lower Manhattan, as opposed to the already more viable Midtown. And they need to make the project cheaper to build, otherwise it will never rise as tenancy contracts will fall short of costs.

Other than that you're totally right, 2WTC will be built when the market dictates it. Which might not be too far in the future if Silverstein comes up with a more realistic pricing. Companies are moving downtown in droves and the WTC needs to join the party.

As long as they pick any of the towers in the WTC, I'll be good. 2 WTC would just be a special treat to me. If they need trading floors, 2 WTC would be the only choice as 3 WTC is already fully occupied at the base.

It certainly would be great if Chase decides to move to WTC 2! Not only would that get the building moving but it would give the building a great anchor tenant.
