Why don't they build this? It's more beautiful.

1 WTC was the flagship of the fleet so to speak and 4 WTC cost the least. If Silverstein had enough money and a bunch of tenants lined up all 4 would have been built simultaneously, but that wasn't the case.

I'm german and the pronunciation of this (german name) is nothing like you describe.

See here for the pronunciation of 'ö' or 'oe':

^ I already mentioned that.

Anyway ... seems like Silverstein is in a good mood!

3 World Trade Center construction nearing an end date

Steve Cuozzo
March 17, 2015

Quote:
Since Larry Silverstein got all his financing for 3 World Trade Center last fall, the project has appeared to some to be rising slowly above its 7-story “podium” level. But the pace is rapidly picking up.

The concrete core has reached the 14th floor and for the first time, steel and concrete are going up at the same time. Floors above 14 are basically repetitive, and by summer, the tower will be adding one floor per week en route to its full 80-story height.

So is Silverstein excited?

“How could you not be?” he laughed yesterday. “After 14 years!”

“The steel will top out in Decmeber 2016. By 2018 we’ll have a finished building,” Silverstein said. In addition to GroupM which has leased 500,000 square feet in the 2.8 million square-foot tower, “I’m very excited about activity now taking place” — which of course he wouldn’t specify.

“Beyond that, Tower 2 will ultimately follow,” he said. “And then we’ll have essentially finished the new World Trade Center.”

Is this a good thing? What would be changed?

Edit: I guess it's converting the trading floors to television studios? I'm just hoping it's not a height reduction or changing the overall design.

only the base of the tower would change, which I don't mind, it looks a bit odd.

I've said all along 2WTC would be the perfect spot for NewsCorp. But there is no deal till there is one so finger's crossed for sure.

Tremendous news! Larry doesn't mess around! This tower will be under construction much more quickly than I anticipated maybe two-three years ago!

Definitely good news! I'm very confident this is where Murdock wants to be. Direct views from his penthouse in Madison Sq Pk so he can famously micro manage all of his companies with binoculars from his kitchen. Where else are they going to go other than WTC that can accommodate the kind of space they are looking for? They already crossed out the Hudson Yards.

@Baronson.

What may be changed is the base of the tower, like you said... converting the massive trading floors for studios which I don't think would effect the Height nor the Diamonds.

Both the height and Diamonds imo is given. The master plan calls for the stepping down effect between the other towers which I find it hard that they will deviate from and the diamonds is the signature of the tower and is probably the biggest reason why Newscorp wants to be there.

Why would you be surprised if Larry and Rupert struck a deal?

Very exciting news! The persistence of this rumor seems to be warranted. Crossing my fingers very tightly that this goes through and that the tower gets underway.

It does sound like they're only discussing adjusting the base, likely to something more rectangular. I don't mind that at all, as long as it doesn't affect the rest of the tower, since that would mean a more even street wall.

I'm curious about what type of studios they will be incorporating. Sound stages can have extraordinarily high ceilings (I've seen them anywhere from 30 to 60 or even 70 feet) to accommodate lighting rigs and catwalks. This could make the base significantly taller/bulkier.

Sounds like they really want to move here. It says they've spent a lot of time and money discussing the matter.
