So I guess the base redesign would be like how it is at 1211? Posters of the Fox News cast everywhere with the 'news' strip in bold red lettering running along the base of the building.

Both the height and Diamonds imo is given. The master plan calls for the stepping down effect between the other towers which I find it hard that they will deviate from and the diamonds is the signature of the tower and is probably the biggest reason why Newscorp wants to be there.
Yes, but 3WTC was shortened and it's still part of the stepping down technically. But honestly if there's any anchor tenant that would build this beauty to the original height/crown design, I think Newscorp/21st Century Fox would be the best bet. Very hopeful.

Cheers, my friend!

This also means all those companies like Deutsche Bank, Samsung, UBS, Sotheby's, JP Morgan Chase, Ralph Lauren will have to look at either the Hudson Yards or the new Vanderbilt corridor!

Such exciting times!

Half? That's better than 3 WTC at the moment.

I'm nervous about the redesign. I hope it doesn't end up looking like the Crain building in Chicago, i.e. just a rectangle with a "sliced off" roof. I like the oddly shaped body, the insets, the slightly mismatched roof off the current design. It would surely be one of the biggest disappointments in NY architecture if they ruined it. I guess this is better than being stuck in skyscraper purgatory, though.

I know a lot of people who aren't Fox News fans, and truthfully to me their conservative spin gets pretty tired sometimes when they laughably promote themselves as "fair and balanced". However, it sounds like the parties involved all want this and I really would be thrilled with bringing in two major media companies(the news and 20th Century Fox studio businesses)and se it proven that it's not just the financial sector but a broader push towards media and technology in Lower Manhattan and that there is indeed a considerable market for that area. I welcome this development enthusiastically because I want the WTC and Lower Manhattan to officially be able to roar" We're back and bigger and better than ever"! Along with the finishing of WTC 3 in the next couple of years and the constant news of soaring residential developments being built it's going to be soon clear that a new 24/7, diversified, exciting neighborhood will emerge from the darkness of all the loss of life and destruction of 9-11. If it takes Fox to make this vision a reality, make it so!

They're only redesigning the base, which was designed with trading floors in mind.

I am hoping for a news ticker at the base.

They'd better not make the base a box.

It might just be a interior design thing

The trade floors will have to be redesigned to allow for studio enviroment. I'm sure it won't be anything major

Both uses are fairly compatible since both require high ceilings, column-free floorspace and a massive electrical package. The main difference may come down to fenestration vs. blank walls.

Actually the podium floors have columns because of how large the floorplates are.
