We're putting the cart before the horse because we don't even know if a redesign of the base is possible. Thus, it's very possible that Newscorp will go elsewhere, like the Tishman Spire, for example.

Fox News should be broadcast from a rusty shipping container at the bottom of the Goawnus Canal not form The World Trade Center site ...

id rather wait longer and have 2wtc built how it was originally designed than to be ruined by redesigning for cost cuts

I think people just have PTSD from the changes to 1WTC's base and mast...

I don't understand why, as all of the changes were practical and didn't seem to have anything to do with scrimping money to me...but, this is the narrative now. Best to just let it die down on its own...

Steinway and 2 WTC must be built as it. No exceptions.

I do think that if they do change anything, it would be the interior. Silverstein wouldn't be crazy enough for them to destroy such a majestic building.

I agree, and I think people are making a way bigger issue of this than needs to be. When I read the article, I get that they want to make sure each floor they lease is exactly the way they need it, meaning layout. Might be an office put here, a studio put here, restrooms moved to over there, basically floor plan change type stuff. Fox is interested in the building for a reason, and it can't be it's great location only. Plus, the mention of cutting costs to change the building? That's not what Fox does. I think people just need to chill out a bit, and wait to see what, if anything comes of this. We may not have an answer to any of this until the end of the year or later

Wait what...?

Not covering the "spire" with radome was all about scrimping money.

But yes I agree with the PTSD part for lack of a better word

Yes, the podium was more of a security theater measure and the radome ostensibly did not pass "wind tests." Although the latter was shown to be way more about the money.

Hahaha "wind tests"

It's a bunch of BS that Durst made up because he didn't want to admit how cheap he is. That building was engineered and designed long before it started construction and obviously they took into account the wind just like they did for the rest of the building.

This is a thread about a building, not your political agenda. If you can't discuss this tower like an adult then we'll be happy to follow up with brigs and bans.

How isn't their a Crowdfunding campaign to get this back off the ground?

I mean honestly, this needed to be a fundamental part of this complex somehow. It was such a shame it got scrapped. 1st they were going to have 2 floors for banquet/restaurant space. Then it got scaled back to one, then it got canceled all together.

^ But 1 WTC does have a restaurant and cafe. It also has separate space set aside for private parties and banquets...

The original WTC also had a food court area at the observation deck. What people want is a completely separate high-end restaurant and bar. The restaurant at the observation deck is probably going to be a zoo, but I'd be happy to be wrong.
