The terraces and cantilevers are really nice. And the glass I'm sure will be top notch. But still, it's so "blocky". It has none of the elegance of the original design. N O N E.

My friend is creating a change.org petition. I will share it once he creates it.

I would recommend looking at all the renders in the Wired article and analysing them for a while before just shouting a knee-jerk reaction.

Do I think the new design is less graceful than Foster's? Sure. Do I think it is the monstrosity that others seem to feel it is? After some consideration, not quite. The view from the memorial is not bad at all, and the interior is very interesting, as is the idea with the roof gardens.

I'm pretty sure that if Ingels's design had been presented together with the others in 2007 or so, the reception would have been warmer. Don't you think that you have just gotten so used to the old 2WTC that anything new automatically seems like a nasty shock? I remember the early days of this thread, when people would write how strange the tower looked from Brooklyn, or how weirdly asymmetrical the diamonds were from some angles. But all that talk has been gone for many years. And people will eventually come to accept this, too, just like they did with the even more monstrous Twin Towers (to which the Ingels design's quite elegant memorial facade incidentally seems to pay tribute).

Finally, remember that this isn't really decided upon yet. Murdoch might back out and take the new design with him.

Kenneth Gardner and the Twin Tower Alliance tried the same thing, look how that turned out.

Nothing is changing this unless Fox backs out.

LOL! I can tell you are young. If Fox decides to stay in Midtown, it won't be because of a change.org petition! And the design isn't changing. This looks pretty concrete. It's even on Larry's site.

I like Foster's design WAY better than this one, but I'm just trying to stay positive. It could have been worse. And at least the new World Trade Center will finally be complete. According to the article, if everything goes to plan this tower could be open by 2020. So I mean there are pros and cons with this one.

That is by far my least favourite thing about Bjarke's renders. But it is also one of the least essential features of the preliminary design, and one that is very easily (and probably) omitted.

The only tower that never got redesigned is 4wtc and its now my favorite tower in the complex and i also dont understand why they removed the spires from 3wtc either thanks for ruining a great a site!

Wow! That is such a ugly design compared to the previous design. Such a shame.

All in all, I can't help but feel they have made quite a mess of the whole WTC site I feel. They had a once in a lifetime blank canvas of a large plot in a prime location and they seem to have wasted the opportunity to create some truely groundbreaking towers that New York deserves

The best tower in the development got redesigned, and by the looks of it, shortened.
I'm not surprised at all. And by Fox news- it doesn't get much better than that.
This is so pathetically funny.
One WTC had the base and spire changed and cheapened, and Three WTC had the exterior modified. Four WTC didn't change, but that was hardly more than a tall filler from the start. With Two WTC completely changed, the debacle is complete.

How many times do I have to say - the spires on 3 WTC will not go anywhere.
