The mistake was made when cronyism overtook design & aesthetics & making a powerful, bold, cohesive design for the whole wtc site. I still have hope that in future things will come together a bit, & am hoping this rendering will not actually end up being the 2wtc we get, but time will tell! I do like how the site will be better connected to the surrounding streets via the new grid, & 1wtc has grown on me (slightly). If the past is any indication, the 2wtc we see in the renderings now will not be the 2wtc we end up getting in the end. At least I highly doubt it. It just doesn't work at all. We shall see.

"Fox News, now reporting from our new headquarters at the World Trade Center!!!!"

Would you be surprised if they made the move to downtown and went through all this for the bragging rights?

Apparently, I'm in the minority, but I do kind of like the new look and I'm sure when it's ultimately built it will change some people's minds.

By no means the Trade Center site is ruined forever and that the Terrorists had won. lol.

I'm just ecstatic we have a major corporation buying into the WTC complex that will get this tower ready to rise and move towards completion of this forever ongoing development.

The potential super tall towers of 125 Greenwich, 42 Trinity and possibly 5 WTC when the PA sells will make this area taller and denser anyway.
Finally someone here speaking with intelligence instead of like the rest of the whiny 3 year olds here screaming like someone stole their lollipop. I was sad at first the diamonds were gone but I am glad this site will finally (hopefully) be finished.

That is not how things work. The NYPD has nothing to say just because the building "looks" too filmsy. There is a team of engineers working on the structural design of this building, they have to do a lot of studies, models, wind tunnel test, etc. to determine how the structure of this building works. I don't think they are on that stage yet, and those studies could certainly make changes to the building, such as make the cantilvers less protuberant, or make reinforcements to the structure that we won't see.

But after that, if the structural design of the building is probe sound, if they follow the safety standards for evacuation, fire proofing, etc, it would be aproved as it is.

And any eventual change mandated by the NYPD/NYFD surely won't be very welcome here, that could be things like enclose the lobby as they do with 1WTC.

This was a little funny to me

Please do not make buildings that only make it easier for King Kong to climb.

Dear Bjark Ingels,

"Congratulations on the new reveal of Two World Trade , and also your very nice name. Both are a great accomplishment."

"I'm creating this petition to ask you to consider a redesign. Though you have designed this building with wonderful reasons in mind, such as completing the framing of the memorial, bringing an even more enhanced skyline to the beautiful city of New York, creating a physical symbol of healing and togetherness, there is one glaring oversight. Your building makes it easier for King Kong to climb."

"Your building is just a staircase for monsters."

Anyone else think they should build the other design just in a different spot but not necessarily a part of the world trade center? No okay...

Flatten the north side of the building to more closely align with the podium bordering Vessey and you have a much better design in my book. I like the setbacks on the eastern side and how they tie in with the theme of setbacks in 3 and 4, but the cantilevers on the north face just look out of place.

I feel like being in the minority liking this design. 2WTC was ob hold for far too long. I rather have a good designed over 400m roof building actually get built, then wait for a better design decades to finish. It's not the first time we lost an amazing design, nor is it the best design we ever lost and the new design is also not bad at all. Just think about chongqing of how many awesome towers we lost to far shorter designs in the end, not even to mention russia tower. I was thinking 2WTC would be on hold for many more years, so I am happy to see a development start that can be done by 2021.

This will be hard but I'm going to attempt to be positive about the new design with this post...Because of this new design, I no longer care about the height of 122 Thames being 1300+ feet tall and completely ruining the spiral effect created in the DT skyline....................
This design is shit...Sorry, I tried.

Something just seems off with it. To me this tower resembles the moment a man, whose head is slightly larger than what fits his body type, began his journey (first making contact with the very sturdy wall that is 1WTC) to the hardwood floor after a very intense night of drinking. Perhaps, if the tower's "lean" when viewed from across the river was directed towards 3 WTC, it might not look so horrendous.

Wow thats a very disappointing design. Looks like something you'd see in Moscow ffs.

TBH I wasn't blown away by the Foster design, but all is forgiven now!

There is just no class, no dignity in this design... It looks so out of place and disoriented... Not a great compliment to the memory of WTC which it should be... Like said before, it looks like some pile of blocks about to collapse... Again.

Something needs to be done with it... Add some straight vertical lines to it or something...

Something like in post: #4205

Anything is better.

Actually, the top of the original design looks pretty much like the Windows logo.

You know I was in the camp that really disliked this but after letting it sink in, I'm starting to like it. I have to wonder, if THIS were the design we got 14 years ago and got replaced by Foster's design now would people still react this way?
