Looks like Robert Murdoch is stepping down as CEO.

I highly doubted when the first renderings came out for 217 west 57 "Nordstrom Tower" not everyone was so liking of it, and the same for 111 west 57 "Steinway Tower".

Does Larry have cats? Maybe his brain has been infected by a toxoplasma gondii parasite cause how could ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT STATE OF MIND JUST THROW AWAY THE ORIGINAL 2WTC???????????? Look at how beautiful the original 2WTC, the REAL 2WTC is! How majestically it stands and how its perfect symmetry compliments its surroundings. This was supposed to be the real gem of this site! Straight and clean lines! 1 World is the king: Bold and triumphantly commanding; and 2WTC is the queen: Beautiful, dignified and regal.

I hope the NYPD completely rejects that thing. I hope this
brings some consideration of the alternative to build a twin.
But that is only a dream

So, if the original plans didn't suit the needs for the new tenants, why didn't they simply had Sir Norman Foster adapt the design? What happened to 2WTC is just beyond me.

That's actually a very good question. This is like a slap in the face to Foster. Foster is an architectural genius like Howard Roark. And Bjarke Ingels is like Peter Keating...

Especially in this side view I don't understand what kind of problem FOX had with the tower? It's fairly wide and you could surely find a space for one or even a couple of studios in that building.
(for a second completely ignoring the fact that FOX should broadcast from the -2 basement restrooms to match their "news' " quality...)

The problem Fox had with the original design was that it was never going to be built.

We're not playing minecraft here. The sky is the limit, and in this case that limit is money. The new design is simpler to build, quicker to get started, and offers an immediate solution for prospective tenants.

We'd all like every building to be a perfect, beautiful work of art. But sometimes in life, things just have to get done. In this case, we're already coming up on 15 years since 9/11 and the site still isn't finished. Not even half finished.

One can make a solid case for a lot of the problems with the new WTC coming down to absurd ambitions and some undefinable sense of reverence to the original towers. Nothing could ever live up to expectations as this point, not even Foster's 2WTC design, which is not even a stump after ten years of stagnation.

People need to let go of the past and stop holding these new towers to an unattainable position of respect. They're just buildings, and at a certain point, buildings need to be built.

Just looking at this for the second time. Still looks awful, and thats what i was thinking. It doesn't look like it will have a major amount of additional floorspace than the original proposal.

I hope so, a World Trade Center skyscraper should be capable withstand a terrorist act, and the new design looks feeble.

At least he knows a good chunk of people dislike the tower, but I hate his pretentious reasons of bringing Tribeca to the Financial District, it just looks dumb.

What horrible piece of shit design. I hope this gets a resounding rejection. There is absolutely no class to this tower. No uniformity with the rest of the skyline. It sticks out like an over-sized cancerous tumor.

How this architect is popular is beyond me.

Someone should begin some sort of group to protest against this.

designing a tower to appear as if its about to fall over is honestly really inappropriate and distasteful for a site such as this. Why would you ever build a tower to look like its tipping over on a site like the World Trade Center? Everything about this building is just awful.
