49: Mechanical
50-73: Office

And where it gets really confusing is the top. You can see floors 74, 75, and 76 as double story mechanical floors. I'd call it 3 floors, giving 2WTC 76 actual floors.
That's fine for me.

Of course there's a difference between the official floor count and the actual floor count. Look at 1WTC. Officially it has 108 floors, but actually it doesn't even has 100. What we need is a standard for this forum. It's confusing to take the official floors for one building (1wtc) and the actual floors for another (2wtc).

But what about the height? Why is it 1339ft (408m) while official sources say 1350ft? And the end I don't care about 11ft, but I'm a curious person. Maybe there's a very interesting reason for this

Just for fun, my floor count on 4WTC follows,

1-6: Retail/Mechanical
7-44: Office
45: Mechanical
46-60: Office
61/62: Mechanical.
Hmm, I count: (If we say that i belive the diagram )

1-6: Retail and Mechanical (But I think Silver and CTBUH are counting the base mech-floors as double so its actually 9 floors (6 mech and 3 retail floors)
7-40: Office
41-42: Mechanical
43-60: Office
61: Mechanical (but since they are counting the base mech-floors as doble you get 64 floors?)

Do you have a link to the diagram that you are using to count the floors?

Yes and exactly my thought and point of the discussion, the thread should be saying what the top floor is, according to what the elevator is gonna go to (not the actual floor count). Even if it's a mechanical floor that is the top floor (Its still a floor).

Even the old World Trade Center had a 8 story base, Lobby floors 1-6 and mechanical floors on 7th and 8th. So the first office floor was at floor 9. And 41-44 as skylobby and mechanical and again the same from 75-78, and the top from 108-110 was mechanical and broadcasting floor. So the buildings had really (if mechanical floors are counted as one floor really) only what 99 or 100?

ok I just counted the floors on my own. my result:

2WTC actually has 79 floors !!!

If you look carefully you can see that there are 4 mechanical floors at the top of the building plus the roof, which counts as an floor, too. I forgot that.

If you see http://www.fosterandpartners.com/Pro...7/Default.aspx they say it has 78 floors. What you count as the 79th is part of the 78, you can see the black mechanical equipment stretching over 2 floors. (right where you have put the red 78th on the picture). But even so the thread still needs to be changed..

No, I just count the roof as a floor. Foster doesn't. That's all.

AFAIK it depends on its usage. For example with an antenna on it, it counts as another floor. If the roof just prevents the building from water damage, then it's just a roof and nothing else than a roof.

The roof is never counted as a floor, do you count the roof on your house as a floor? Even if it has an antenna on it, its not counted as a floor. If it has an antenna on top, then the last floor of the building will be broadcasting equipment floor (Mentioned before, like in the old WTC where the 110th floor was Broadcasting equipment floor, because of the antenna on the roof).

So it has 78 floors and then they need to change the name of the thread.

But as we are discussing the thread should be saying the official hight, NOT the actual. So confusion of projects is kept at a minimum

Sorry if we are using to much of the thread space, discussing pretty relevant stuff! jeeeezzzz..

And I would say its better than just writing: Great progress and When is it done?

Ditto. I know we've got some CTBUH members lurking on these threads. I wish they'd pipe in with their two cents.

The roof can be counted as a floor and a roof if the roof serves some kind of secondary function, especially if there is more structure above it.

I've wondered the same thing. Both 2 and 3 share mechanical needs with the PATH hub. Maybe they want/need to get 2WTC's done first.
