If anything is a disgrace it is that these designs never happened, what ultimately happened to 1WTC is a shame, but I feel with Bjarke Ingels' tower we will get at least one interesting building in the complex.
I find the second one more of an insult with its quirkiness, rather than paying homage to the original twin towers.

As already said, the way the BIG tower "leans" toward 1WTC is insulting, too. Scenes of the first attack in 1993 come through my head.

Has Norman Foster expressed an opinion about the new design yet?

In a recent interview, he claimed that he had not seen it.

Lots of interesting things to admire with this tower plus I think the quality of the materials will be key, but I have no doubt that it will be. I for one is moving on and looking forward to see this rise and complete this forever ongoing WTC site.

There's a lot of insanity from anti-New Yorkers, though I must say that Enrigue truly takes the cake!

Otie, Will the T2 entrance stay open once construction resumes? That room looks pretty high quality to be so temporary.

Honestly, this garbage building should be renamed 2 Fox News Center, or 2 News Corp Center.

Actually Seeing the View Shown Here I'm Beginning to like the Looks of This Tower! The lean as you call it makes that side of the building appear to be at the same angle as WTC 1 sides slope inward. Creates a nice visual image. I still like it as much as Foster's design for WTC 2 but at least you're going to get the building built in our lifetime.

I would like to point out that there was huge resistance against the original two tower before, during and after construction. The public opinion was not positive and I don't believe they were an icon immediately after they were constructed either. Not saying one World Trade Center will or should be an icon either way.

Back on 2 WTC, I wish they hadn't changed it. While I think the new design has it's merits and could be turned into something quite interesting, I don't think it fits into downtown Manhattan at all. Funny enough I think this building would look much better if it wasn't so massive and bulky which it sounds like thats the whole reason they switched to it.

From what I understand it's the same square footage as foster's design. I am still wondering why Fox chose to find a new architect and get rid of foster. He has much more merit and maturity in design than Bjarke. Bjarke also has far superior designs than this, I am still hoping for a redesign or even to put foster back on the project.

Norman Foster must be thinking: "what the hell have you done to my gorgeous tower...?"

I'm sorry, girls, but this tower is gorgeous.

It's a testament to NYC to have a major, global corporation build its World HQ in the capital of the world, NYC.

Also, for those not in the know, News Corp is WAY more than Fox News. Moreover, Fox News is the voice of conservatives, whether you ladies like it or not.

Why can't a global corporation build its HQ in Foster's building? I don't think they were intending to build exterior without interior. They probably envisioned it having tenants when it's finished.

P.S. Fox News is not the voice of conservatives, it is the voice of close-minded idiots. Cheers.

You don't exactly sound open minded with statements like that.

Anyway, this is a gorgeous tower that suits the tenant's needs. Foster's tower suits a bank, and quite possibly, a bank will build it in the Yards.

Bring it on!

Foster's tower was designed specifically for the WTC. It won't be built elsewhere, or at all.
